Not sure If this is in the right place but I have a few questions about an illusion full on beam. First, If you are to step in front with the leg in the air, does the skill count as a half or a full? Also, are you allowed to touch the beam with one hand if you don't put support on it? Any...
quick question....
what is the deduction on beam when (in the L4 routine) the gymnast fails to hold the one footed landing and steps back onto the back foot to keep her balance?? Some have said it counts as a fall, but that seems like a pretty big deduction. I know someone here will have the...
dd had been watching Dance moms and was intrigued by the girls doing a standing split (or vertical split), where the girls lift their leg to the side and hold it with their arm. well, she has been practicing it on the beam and does it fairly well. I have seen other girls do it in competition and...
My dd is in AAU level 3. The beam dismount is the cartwheel to side handstand 1/4 turn. I was just wondering if the gymnast does the cartwheel side handstand but doesn't do the 1/4 turn (so comes straight down landing on the same side they are facing instead of the opposite side) is this...
Hi everyone
So I can do a bhs on high beam by myself with 2 eight inches under it. My coach won't let me do them without the mats until I can do it on the low beam. Whenever I do it on the low beam by myself I always can't land it. I always split the beam and land hard on my knees. I don't...
I just had to share this video of Laura Edwards (GBR). This beam mount is VERY cool!

My dd's coach is starting to ask the girls to do much higher handstands on the beam than what they had been doing previosly. I was just wondering what the best "safety move" is to get out of a handstand gone wrong
(going past vertical). Apparently, the coach has not addressed that issue, as dd...
dd finally got her backhand spring back tuck dismount on beam 2day. So proud of her. It just makes me feel better about her gym change. I have been so what iffing these last few months that it is nice to see progress.
Yay for her. She is so very pleased with herself. After 10 weeks of no gymnastics, 3 weeks of gymnastics lite (no back flexion skills) and 2 weeks of full gym she has her back handspring on beam!
I knew she was close and I came early to pick up so I could watch a bit. I'm so glad I did...
Does anyone have some beam fairies they can send my daughter's way? She cannot seem to land her cartwheel on beam and has gotten to the point where she dreads beam during practice. Her first meet is coming up and I would love if she could just land a few before then (just to help her know that...
I have a beam at home in my garden but it is covered in carpet. The carpet is starting to fall off and go moldy as it has been raining alot . I was wondering what is the covering for a proper beam and where i can buy it thanks (when it is properly covered ill will put a plastic sheet over it...
OK so in the last month i have gotten pretty comfortable with doing handstands on the high beam, but last night i fell. Like i was fine when i was kicking up into it but when i came down i kinda straddled the beam but fell off one side really fast onto my back. I didn't get hurt or anything but...
My DD has struggled with BWO on beam, so now she has moved on to back extension rolls, she can get to handstand, but splits way early. Once she is in handstand, she is already splitting. What would the deduction be?
Thanks
This is just to satisy my own curiosity because my deprived child has no gym equpiment at home. :)
I don't get to watch training, but I happened to spy through the window that DD was trying to do centre splits on beam - with no success at all LOL.
Wouldn't it be easier to slide down on your...
