Help! My Level 7 DD has changed her beam routine so many times I am almost too nervous to go to her meets . This last change was a good one...she added her BHS to her BWO. However, she took the other BHS out (her series used to be BWO-BWO, then she did a BHS separately). The Level 7...
Boy was Charleston Cup tough. DD had some great moments and some not so great moments. She Vaulted great, 9.3 11th place. Good on floor but coach changed her routine and she got to that part and just stood there because she forgot the new part. Got a 9.075. Not too bad. Then came bars, she...
My DD cant decide on a mount for her beam routine and does a little "side saddle" hop up but wants something different. She is small and strong but needs a spring board for that one even.
Any ideas about what some really neat beam mounts would be to give her some more to chose from and work...
Beam
So i have been competing layout stepouts on beam for almost a year now, and no matter what i do, i can't seem to fix two things.
1). I can't keep my back leg straight.
2.) I can't seem to stick them! It's really aggrivating. i make like 1/5 which is not a good ratio at all. Grr...
So i have been competing layout stepouts on beam for almost a year now, but i have some major issues with them just won't go away. Fist of all, my back leg is bent at about a 90 degree angle, and i haven't figured out how to fix it. Secondly, my backhandsprings are kinda crooked in the first...
does any one have a suggestion for me? i am working on back-walkover back handsprings on BEAM. i can do the back-walkover part but then i pause and cant do the back hand spring. i i have tried to say keep going to myself and set go but nothing i have tried is working. PLEASE, I NEED A LOT OF...
My 5 y/o girl is just loving gymnastics - she started this winter with a club. She is doing gymnastics all around the house. My husband just made her a beam (carpeted it) and now she wants to do cartwheels on it. She has been practicing on a line of tape on the floor. About 50-75% of the...
DD's meet season will be over next weekend if she can't get her cartwheel this week. They have a meet in 3 weeks that she can only go in if she moves up to L5 (which is all she has wanted all season) and she has all the skills except that stupid cartwheel.
She would love to at least be able...
 dd bit it big time on beam today!
I took dd to her preschool class this morning. She was having a blast and playing and just being a kid in the gym. This is why I love that she gets to do preschool class as well as her team training.
During their time on beam, dd did all of the...
A small accomplishment really, but I was excited. They have been doing them spotted for awhile now, but she tried one on her own and actually did it. I was really surprised even if it wasn't too pretty.
It's amazing how she seems to make no progress and then all of the sudden things just...
HELP - My daughter is competing level 7 this year. She is competing without a back handspring on beam. He coach says she has one of the best back haNdspring stepouts he has ever coached on beam. But she just doesn't have the confidence to do it by herself. She has never gotten hurt on beam so i...
What does it take to be able to stick a cartwheel on the beam? The L5 on our team are so inconsistent with this skill and now the my L4 DD is starting to learn her cartwheel on the low beam I am wondering what it takes to stay on the beam? What factors go into the cartwheels that fall off vs...

Is there a difference in scoring if the gymnast uses the higher beam? They usually have 2 during the competition and my daughter who loves the beam also chooses the higher one but I notice that most girls choose the lower one. I asked her why but she says it's more of a challenge.
We made DD a beam out of wood many years ago and she has always made up little routines on it. She has been trying to work on improving her beam turns and she was on the beam practicing the other day and she said that it was different doing it on the wood beam then using the beam at the gym...

If you have any ideas for starting to learn it or tips on how to do it I would be very appreciative! :D
Thanks! :)
Hi all! We have been struggling with OT on beam routine since DD changed her beam dance. What is the max time limit for USAG beam? Also, if she is halfway through her dismount (in the air on her front tuck) when the time bell rings, is that still a deduction for OT?
Ok Ok..... I admit it. I'm new to this girl thing. I have been coaching boys for many years, but just decided to take on a couple girls team classes at our gym.
I know "technically" speaking, on a level 7 beam acro series it would make sense if the a girl was going to do a back walkover -...
Gah!
Sorry for not being on here in a bit. I've been busy with home-schooling and all that jazz.
So, I'm done with gymnastics again. I was going to stop in March.
I broke my foot flipping a beam dismount. Just a simple cartwheel, back-tuck! Why couldn't it have been a triple-duple-front-pike...
