Well now she loves the beam, reason being...................
She did a tick tock on the medium beam herself. This a such an accomplishment for her. Now hoping that since she is getting comfortable...
Ok in another thread you read about my DD's blisters on the balls of her foot. Lots of full turns on the beam and floor.
Well now DD is wondering if Beam shoes might be something she wants - she was hinting away at them after practice on Wed.
Our gym does allow the girls to wear the gym...
I have done back handsprings on beam for like 7 years, and i have never been able to keep my legs straight. I can make them be fairly straight, but they are never straight. The back one is worse than the front. Anybody have any suggestions? Also, judges, what do you consider a straight leg...
I recently started teaching some preschool classes and cannot believe how many kids are afraid of the high beam and even the medium height one. I want them to be exposed to it since I have kids in my older classes who are still scared, having never been exposed as a young gymnast. What do you do...
I started learning my backhandspring for beam recently and I am hoping to get it for competition this next year but I am having some problems. My main problem is that instead of jumping back into the handspring I am jumping up too much and therefore undercutting it. I have been working it mostly...
i was reading another post and saw that someone once had 4 falls on beam (i won't mention names)!
it is funny to read that because i just stopped by my original gym on thursday and one of the four remaining coaches that knows me (from 16 years ago) mentioned, didn't you fall seven times on...
I always knew the day would come when watching dd do her beam would freak me out - and now it's here........I can deal with the backhandspring stuff and the round off dismounts, but man, that back tuck is hard to handle! I am seriously having anxiety about it - I have never been concerned about...
I can never get my kip consistant. If i want to move up i have to. How do you think i can get it consistant?? I dont know what i am doing wrongn some of them times. Also i am working on back hand springs on beam. but i always miss my feet. and my arm are bent. what can i do to stop this!? Please...
Just curious what is the skill level for a split leap if you are facing sideways, not looking at the end of the beam?
Anyone know??? If you do know, will the skill level still be the same when the new requirements take affect? I'm wondering for the new upcoming season.
My dd is working the...
I'm having lots of trouble!
first with a kip: I have a great glide but as soon as I try to get my ankles to the bar it gets all messy and screwed up. Is there any drill that I can do at home to improve the kip? Also do you push or pull on the bar?
My second problem is with a squat on...
My DD was doing Split Jump(180) / Wolf Jump for her Level 8 beam dance series and just recently the coached changed it to - Straight Jump / Split Jump(180). I am not an expert but is a Straight Jump at Level 8 okay. It seems kind of simple. Is it even in the code of points? Does it fill the...
The past 2 times I tried to make a montage, Windows movie maker has not been cooperating....so here is just the plain old video. I also missed the beginning of her mount. This is LM's Bronze level routine for USAIGC from last weekend's meet. Thanks for peeking!

Okay to everyone who is reading this. I am a level 7 at Buckeye GYmnastics and hate a skill on beam. Its the back walkover back handspring. So i got it then lost and got it again but like a week ago i split the beam really hard i completely missed my hands hit my face my back and shoulder and...
Hi, my daughter aspires to compete in the coming season, probably L4, although no levels have yet been assigned, as our group has never competed team yet. My girl is rockin' pretty well on bars, vault, and floor; beam appears to be her Achilles heel at present. She will attemt, with some...
Hi there. I was wondering if there was an advantage to doing either skill..
do judges like one better than the other? is one easier or harder? easier or harder on the gymnast's feet?
thanks so much.
So as of this week, I'm now coaching the level 3s at our gym -- coming in right at the end of competition season! Friday I did beam and bars with them and was very disappointed to see that not one of them can properly do their beam dismount (cartwheel to handstand hollow body down to floor)...
Help! My Level 7 DD has changed her beam routine so many times I am almost too nervous to go to her meets. This last change was a good one...she added her BHS to her BWO. However, she took the other BHS out (her series used to be BWO-BWO, then she did a BHS separately). The Level 7...
