YouTube - Gymnastics Balance Beam Mount Guide (its free jump to cross split around 50-52 seconds!)
I remember finding this move first on youtube and I thought it looked really cool! Soo today I tried doing it onto a bunch of stacked mats (at beam height) and I was pretty centered, but do you...
Does anyone else here LOVE turns on beam?? I looovvee them!! :D Right now the hardest turn I have is a double and I also have a straight legged 1 and a half. I did a regular 1 and a half turn in Level 7 and was the only one on my team doing one! I've also done a 2 and a half, but I think I tried...
I'm making myself a beam routine just for fun. Cause I'm not competing or anything, I just want to have a routine. I need a couple more things in it to make it feel complete. So far I have (not in order):
straddle type mount
candlestick
swingy leg half turn (I'm not sure the name for it LOL)...
I know this is nasty, but my feet sweat alot when I get on beam. so I ask for chalk. I get the chalk, and then all my teamates"need" some! Then there is barely enough for me!! Is there like antipersperint for your feet or something like that so I don't have to worry about getting chalk?
I would like to purchase a beam for at home so my daughter can stop using the arm of the sofa for practice. Any suggestions? There are some that are foam, but I was thinking something similar to what is at the gym.
Thanks in advance
My dd is 5 years old and on the level 3 team. she is having trouble staying on the beams. does anyone have any tips on what i can tell her to help her stay on? when she gets unsteady, she simply jumps off instead of trying hard to stay on. during practice, it seems like she "jumps" off 25-30...

My daughter competed her first meet of the season this past weekend. The judge on the beam was VERY GENEROUS with her score. Beam has never been her thing and finally this weekend she told me she is deathly scared of falling. How can I help my child overcome this???
My DD will be a second year level 7. She has 1 teammate new to our club also a 2nd year level 7 and 3 other new to level 7. She is glad to finally have a team land loves them last year she was the only level 7 . They have been working on beam routines. DD has to change her mount last year she...
DD got her L4 beam dismount last night. She did about 5 of them that looked really good. It was the first thing she said to me when she came out of the locker area. "I got my beam dismount!" With a big smile on her face and a high five hand out and ready. :D
I am hoping the beam fairy...
Any suggestions to help keep straight arms and both hands on beam during a Back handspring for lv7? Does my daughter have tight shoulders? How can I help?:D
DD has said several times lately, and I quote, "I'm having so much fun at gym right now Mom, I'm so glad I didn't quit" (we had quite the quitting dilemma last Spring & early this Summmer).
She says part of the reason she feels happier now, is that she has all of her skills for Competing L6...
