I'm really excited as I had a great practice last night!
I got my beam mount, which is really cool. I might post a video later.
I got my switch kip! I struggle with my regular kip, but not with a switch kip. I'm a strange child :P
And last but not least,
I used to have this HUGE block on...
We survived our 1st level 8 meet yesterday. DD is a 1st year 11 year old level 8. It was an in-house practice meet, and the judges gave critiques to each girl after her routine. Very informative!
9.050 on floor. Was told to not hesitate so long before & after tumbling passes (?) and to point...
Hi All,
Well, my DD finally had a chance to compete again. She hasn't competed since November 2009, so it has been a long time. This was just an in-house fun meet, but her team won first place:
Vault: She wasn't supposed to compete this, but they put her in the line-up.
Bars: Not ready...
Does anyone have an example of what to put on a practice meet score sheet, to be given out to gymnasts/parents at end of meet?
For our practice meet this year (new L3s and 4s only), we want to try something different by having the other coaches give out a ballpark range for score, as well as...
Looking to start a small home gym for daughters to practice at home. I have no idea what things to consider except the obvious such as space constraints. I am inclined to get adjustable beam and bars so they have room to grow. Anyone have any helpful advice?
The teams practice meet was tonight....I'm so disappointed to report that my gymmie didn't even get to participate due to injury!:( Sometime during the last 30 minutes of practice on Monday, she stiff legged the landing on her punch front and hyper-extended her knee. She is walking and bearing...
MOST kids dont need much good luck for their first level 4 practice... but this practice... but I do... i dont even have my pullover yet on bars... no backhandspring... and thats about all i need... we start meets in the end of Jan! I am willing to work harder than any other gymnast out there...
I am not talking a general nutrition but rather what your gymnast eats prior to practice and/or during. We have a mom (dd is 12) who is having major issues with our gyms 'snack policy'. The policy is that there is no set snack time provided for any level and that no food may be brought out...
Okay, I haven't had to buy leos for practice in a while because dd's old gym had a specific practice leo that she wore to team practice. Now dd doesn't want to wear the old team leo to the new gym.
I have looked at the leos at the gym--GK's are $50+...she needs a few right away and I really...
For anyone who has seen my posts, DD has been struggling with her kip since we decided to go JO instead of Prep Opt last June. It was a big decision to quit swim team and become a "full-time gymnast" as she calls it. Well, she was supposed to go into level 5 at the end of the summer, but the...
well last night ended up being way too late since dd had trouble sleeping and now she needed to get up for practice but was just soo exhausted and in tears cause she wanted to go to practice , but was tired!
I told her she needed to stay home wich didnt seem to help the tears
I do think when...
In talking to coach about dd progression, she mentioned that dd doesn't put up the scores that she should be based on her practice sessions. Dd goes into meet with the attitude that she is going to knock it out of the park so I don't think it is confidence. She has mild ADD so I wonder if she...
DD's (age 6) first Tops practice was great! I wasn't sure how she would like 2.5 hours of strength training and conditioning. She loved it! I watched the last 45 minutes and watched her do parallettes and rope climbing. *Brag warning* - She was the only girl in the class who could climb the...
so i went on WOGA's website, and i thought it was a gym for primarily elite gymnasts, but apparently they have all levels...what im wondering is how elite gymnasts that are at WOGA get privacy during their practice/training...do they have a separate area than the "regular" WOGA kid gymnasts? do...
Hello everyone! I'm a level 10 gymnast, and considered training elite, but did not. Currently, my coach has named me the team leader (although we don't tell anybody, it's just an honorable spot that I have to take responsibility for), and I've really been noticing the work ethic that goes on in...
We started school this week, which includes full day Kindy for Q.
I was worried she would be exhausted (practice is right after school) - but again, my fears were unfounded. She was fine.
In other news, she's moving right along; the broken arm earlier this summer has not hampered her...
Well daughter went to practice today again the heat was not as bad but she felt sick again and thought she was going to vomit. This happened after running and conditioning. Luckily she sat out for a little bit and then it passed and she returned to practice. She has practice at 8am in the...
Daughter is refusing to go to practice today. We are going through a heatwave and the gym is not air-conditioned. I could not convince her to go to practice. Although I agree that is too hot they give them breaks. She really does not like going in the summer when they run and condition alot...
Does anyone know if USAG has guidelines/suggestions for what prep opt (first year, or whatever your state calls the beginner prep opt level) for how many hours a week girls should be working out/practicing? I am just curious what all the prep opt girls/parents of etc. in this forum are...
Hello :) I am new here and will just go ahead and jump in with a questions for those of you familiar with the world of prep opt gymnastics. My daughter has competed as a rookie for one year. She loves it and it has been the best thing for her self-esteem and confidence. We initially thought...
