I have a question that I'm pretty sure will get a resounding "yes, you're crazy" response. My DD is a L6 and this is her first year using grips (she started right after the end of L5). Last summer she had a incident where her grips slipped and she flew backwards off the high bar. No injury --...
Just need to rant to people who get it!
I was so angry today at practice (and I'm not one to get super emotional) because I have knee pain which is slowing down my progress, especially on floor and vault! It wasn't my day in general- gymnastics-wise and "regular"- so bars (my best event)...
DD is going to the Pink Invitational in 3 weeks. Because some levels are competing Friday, there is no team practice Friday night. There is open gym on Friday night but we have been told that it's not for team girls because all of the team coaches will already be at the meet. DD doesn't compete...
what's the average number of coaches on the floor during practice? my daughter's gym usually only has 1 coach work with her entire level 4 team - 11 girls. That seems like a very low ratio to me and i'm wondering what's "normal."
So, DS comes out of practice last night limping. I asked him what happened.
"Well, I hurt my knee, my ankle, and my leg pit."
I started laughing. I asked how he did that.....
The story started..
"I was doing really big flairs and I fell of the mushroom and banged my knee (makes sense)...
Hi! We're Americans in the UK...
It's been almost 6 mo that dd's been trained in artistic gymnastics and per YouTube videos dd's a level 3 (although I saw no difference in vault between level 3 and 4 and her bar might be an almost level 3, she can't put her feet together on the bar with hands...
We're going somewhere warm for a week over the winter break. Unfortunately, the way the holidays work and the team practice schedule works, my kids are both going to miss some practices. Both will be out of the gym for two full weeks. We've duly informed the coaches and got somewhat different...
My DD can come through in meets, often pulling off skills that are "iffy" in practice. Last year, at level 5, it seemed like she hardly ever made her squat-on in practice, yet she never missed it in a meet. However, her best gym friend is the opposite... looks much better in practice than in a...
Following on a bit from the "outside activities" thread, how do people feel about missing practice, and what is it reasonable to miss practice for?
Where is the balance between being committed and having a life?
My dd trains 3 times a week. And probably would miss a couple of practices a...
Im looking for a small flexable back brace that I can wear to practice. I have been reccomened by my PT to get one because I have had some pretty nasty back injuries in the past and its acting up on me now. Anyone know of any that are not so big and bulky? Im looking for companies, online...
Opinions... DD has a meet on Saturday (we'll need to leave at about 8:30 Saturday morning, so not awful). Then on Monday she (and her sister and my husband... mama's got some "alone time!") are leaving to go visit my in-laws for Thanksgiving. She'll be out of the gym until the 30th and then she...
DD had her first level 6 "practice meet" last night at her brand new gym (not only new to her, but new-new... only opened 5 weeks ago). There was a judge, so while not "sanctioned," it should give them a fairly good idea of what to expect next week when they have their first real meet.
Scores...
I had to take my son to soccer practice today. And he got out an hour before Kadee got out of practice. It just wasnt doable to go home and then back..so we went to the gym. As Im sitting on the couch watching cartoons with my son the HC comes over. She says, well, Kadee only has to get two more...
Im going to be going to a RG center for the first times next week :D and i dont really know what to wear!!): Should I wear my normal gymnastics leo like i did in the AG gym?? I am very confizaled
Wasn't sure whether to put this in parenting, but I'd like coaches opinions too...
DD is coming up to 7 and just started to get excited about gymnastics, and do stuff at home. I have a set of press up bars, so I'm letting her practice handstands/press to handstand on so she doesn't stress her...
Last year, my DD experienced a couple minor injuries, a scary fall off the high bar, and had a repetitive use injury with her knee. She hurt her ankle pretty badly last year at practice doing...of all things...the hitchkick in the L5 floor routine. Of course every time I watched her do the...
Hello all,
I just started studying for the level 9 women's judging test, so I wanted to see if any of you wonderful people had videos of you/your daughter's level 9 routines. If they have the score, that's great, but even if they don't, it's good practice for me. If you have videos you want to...
What do you do to help keep your athletes healthy. For example...
We vault onto soft surfaces (resi) 100% during training
We use the JF vault table in our club because it has a more forgiving top
We use the "sweet spot" (air floor) during all floor take offs
We use tumble track for 50% of our...
Hi everyone! So my DD is 6 yrs old and just starting on the L3 team. She will train for 3 hours 1 day a week for team. I was curious to see what snacks ya'll recommend for your kiddos before practice. Or do you not recommend snacks? Personally, I don't do well with eating right before a work-out...
