So, I'm thinking ahead to my last year in gymnastics. I know I need either a pirouette or a release for level 8 bars, and my handstands are spotty so I think a release is the more likely option. So these are my questions:
-I can't do any C releases at level 8, right?
-I've been working a bit on...
My dd has only been in USAG and is still in compulsary levels. Our gym has just started a new team which will compete in another league (not sure which but is definitely not prep-op). It seems to be a local or state league. Anyway, dd is happy and doing well so not looking to change now but a...
I want to buy the CD that has the L4 "new" music with the person who talks over the music telling the gymnast what move they should be doing. But can I find it on the "store" website? Why no, I can't.
Grrrr....
I just read the 2011-2012 USAG Rules and Policies and the following was a change that was made in every sub category:, Coaches, Judges, Athletes and Parents/Spectators.
No cell phone or electronic communication device is allowed on the field during the meet with the exception of Walkie...
My dd had her eval for team today and starts next week! They were looking at her for AAU or USAG and said she had the natural ability to be in the USAG team but needed some polishing of skills and work on flexibility. She's 8, and most of the other girls are 5-6. I was always afraid of being...
This just in...
1. This will be the final year of the state run Prep Optional Program. As of the 2012-2013 season the program will be directed by USAG and renamed the X-cell Program. The design of this program is in its very initial stages and more information is not available. Information will...
My coach told me the other day that the USAG T&T routines may be changing soon. I know they make changes but I thought the current routines ran through the end of 2012. She told me last time they changed them before the cycle was up. I am a bit concerned by this. Also I know they sometimes put...
Unless some unexpected thing happens it looks like I will be competing level 10 on trampoline this year. I am very stoked! Our gym hasn't had anyone at this level in years. I would like to know what kind of neat things you get to do once you reach this level. I know a couple are competing in...
Anyone going? My team all qualified and most of them are actually going-this is the first time we have to be there for THE WHOLE THING. Very exciting stuff.
Ok, first, please pardon my stupidity. But I understand what the USAG is. But what is FIG and how competes under FIG and why? Also, I saw something earlier about AGA. Where does the YMCA fit into all of this as well. Thanks in advance.
Is there anywhere I can find percentage breakdowns for participation at each level (4-10)? Also wondering what percentage go on to compete at a division one college.
*** I currently compete in prep - opt at the intermediate level
I am 14
I just started gymnastics last year when I was 13, and my skills are:

front handspring...
There was a thread started in the Parents Forum about this list, but Bog gave me permission to duplicate it here (not sure if there is a more formal way to do that) because the information is important to all involved with the sport- parents, coaches, and athletes.
The list is here:

Want to say thank you to USA Gymnastics for posting the list of banned coaches in their March/April 2011 magazine! I googled quite a few names to see what the reason was for banning these people, and found many were convicted *** offenders!!
Fellow parents: we can't be too careful these days...
Just thought everyone should be aware (parents and gymnasts alike). This was posted on the PA USAG site...
This is one specific threat but also just good advice about people you "meet" on this site as well as people who may "friend" you on facebook, etc. As parents, we need to be vigilant, and...
The link below shows the USAG Athlete Member breakdown or statistics. It is dated March 1, 2007. So, it has been a few years. Many of you have probably seen it already. But I thought I'd post it for those you've not seen it and are interested, just for reference.
