Hi everyone, I am new to chalk bucket and was so happy to find a place to interact with other gym parents. I have a question about the usag levels. My daughter just finished level 4 AAU last season as state AA champ. We recently changed gyms and now she is in a USA prep silver level, which is an...
As I stated previously my daughter competes in the YMCA league in Maine. What is the differance between YMCA and USAG? I believe we do the same routines. Is there an advantage competing in USAG?

While I like some of the new themes in the L5 and L6, I still find it a bit choppy to me. I do like the L6 more but perhaps I'm so used to the old music ( I like the L6 music and can deal with the L5 music grudgingly ) I don't like some of the pauses and I wouldn't want to teach...
Back when I posted my thread about how I hate hollow casts, Rick McCharles posted about my post on his blog. A heated discussion followed in the comments section, in which I briefly touched on similar issues I have with the progression used by USAG to teach a front handspring vault. So I'm going...
So, we're looking at doing level 5 USAG next yr OR another yr in USAIGC bronze . . specializing on floor and beam silver.
Sort of at a lost . . . everyone (parents) is telling me I need to switch to USAG and that another yr in USAIGC is a waste of time. BUT how do you go from BHS on beam to...
So I am curious if anyone knows the rationale for taking "C" skills out of Level 8 except for dance elements and a few bar skills.
I really have no opinion either way I was curious.
My DD is bummed she has some "C" skills she has been working on and will not be able to do them at level 8. I...
I've been told . . . USAIGC is a College Bound Competitive Program. I've also been told that a gymnast that wants to compete in college needs USAG experience.
I thought I'd try this Forum - thoughts? opinions?
TIA
My daughter was previously a level 5 gymnast but did not obtain a qualifying score to move to level 6 before changing gyms(our previous gym closed) At our new gym she is doing USAG Prep Opt and also USAIGC Silver. In Prep Opt she is doing handsprings, layouts, and full turning jumps on floor...
So this weekend DD finally did all the skills needed for a decent bar routine. For her that means a lot. The routine needs form clean up work but all elements were there. Or so we thought.
Judges docked her .5 from start value for missing a SR cast above 45 degrees. What?? I read the updated...
Hello all!
My daughter was just recently moved up from level 4 to USAG level 4 and only competed her first USAG sanctioned meet last week. I didn't even know there was a difference in the two levels. But after one meet I see there are many significant differences. Most things I've sorted out...
*Warning...brag alert*
Hello fellow Chalk Bucketeers :)
Friday was Pixie's 1st USAG Level 4 meet after being moved up from just plain ol' level 4! She did so-so, score wise. But came out feeling like a princess!
She had such a blast she was glowing from head to toe! She really enjoyed the...
I just did mine, and it requires your address(es) for the past 7 years. I know where I lived during that time, but I may have had the exact dates wrong. So I provided the details and the times (in years) but if they aren't *exact* will I have to pay for the process over again? I'm talking...
Does anybody know the exact USAG requirements regarding minimum ages of gymnasts competing in invitational meets? I was under the impression that the gymnast just needed to have reached the appropriate birthday (ie. 7th birthday to compete level 5) by the meet date. However, another mom told...
In all seriousness... What keeps you coaches sane??
How often does this official music selection or routine change?
Lastly, who selected this music for USAG, and do you happen to have a name & address of this official? :P
Can anyone tell me if there is a deadline for gymnasts to register with USAG membership in order to compete for the compulsary season? Can they register at any time and jump into competitions late?
In level 4-6 on vault, boys are judged on their run and their arm circle, among other things. THey are deducted if their hands cross the center line of their bodies on the run, and they are deducted if they don't arm circle.
Leszek Blanik would lose an entire point before he even reached the...
Can someone please explain to me how the USAG determines a gymnasts age for competition? I was told that it is whatever age they will be on December 31st. For example, if a girl turns 9 in November, she is considered 9 for all meets that year, even if the meets are before her actual birthday...
