Hello,
I am posting this again, but this time in the correct forum. =)
It is now September, and as of last week, the level 8's only does Yuchenko drills about 2x a week. The other 3x a week, they do FHS vault drills. My DD has done a Yuchenko tuck into the pit over the summer, maybe during a...
Hello. My daughter completed level 7 and did reasonably well and is eager to learn level 8 skills. The problem is that she still practices the FHS vault a lot. How does this benefit her? Is it foundational for achieving a good level 8 vault?
She does do yurchenko drills a couple times a week...
Does anyone have any tips for getting a better reach on the vault while doing a fronthandspring? My hands usually at the front of the table not the back. Thanks!
Hi, I just saw that for the upcoming season level 8 vault scoring has changed considerably. Looks like if the gymnast chooses to do a second vault they don't take the best of the two scores as in other levels but the second vault score will be the only one that counts even if it is lower...
Can anyone tell me how it works when the gymnast does two vaults? I have the bonus table, so I know what that is, but does the average of the two vaults go into his AA score, or just the first vault? Thanks!

I know pretty much nothing about the whys of either vault. DD has a poor FHS and I'll be happy when she can get past it. She's uptraining tsuks right now. We don't have many optionals and I don't think I've seen a Yuri out of any of the top girls. Vault has not been the gym's strong suit...
DD can do a decent FHS vault, but she is pretty small and struggles with the 'power' aspect. She frequently will do her FHS with a slight arch and snap to hollow right after she hits the vault table to increase the rebound. It seems she could have an easy time pulling off a Yami since there is a...
The last time I coached, we were still using the horse.
I've got some kids training Level 4 now and I would like some help with introducing the handspring vault. They have the run and the hurdle (mostly) down well. I'm having trouble getting them to block off the table. They are jumping...
So, D has been working yurchenkos for level 9, but came home last night saying he wanted to do a front handspring onto the springboard, then fhs ft vault. Is that a vault? I don't think I have ever seen that.
Any advice on that one?
Does anyone know what the start values are for level 8 vaults or at least be able to put this list in an order of least start value to highest start value if you don't know the actual numbers? Also, would the start value be different for level 9 or 10? Thank you!

I had a meet this week end, i got all 9s except vault (8.3). What can i do at home to make my vault better. The main problems are my hands aren't high on the vault and I'm piked and my hands stay on to long.
My 9 yr old dd does well in all events except the darn vault. It is not good. Does it eventually click?? or will she just never be a vaulter? Do bad vaulters ever go on to become good vaulters?
Hey guys! I need some help.... and fast! I have states this weekend... and am competing vault for the first time in 2.5 months (?) I had stress reaction/shin splints.... then sprained an ankle preventing me from practicing vault. I had a beautiful vault (scoring 9.1s-pretty good usually 2 or 3...
Has anyone experienced an issue where DD or DS have lost their timing/steps on vault? DD is going through that right now, and it is really weird. I know she recently grew about half an inch, so not much. I have seen one other girl at the gym have the same problem. She says she's not afraid...
For Xcel silver and gold vault, alternate vault boards can be used. What are the alternate types? When would it be appropriate to use them? Are different types of boards available at state meet venues or do you need to bring your own if not using a standard board?
For girls they do two and are scored in the better of the two. Is there a level when the boys start doing two or is it only two if you mess up and then you take a deduction?
A little background, I have 2 dd's in gym, my oldest being 17 and my younger one being 7. My older dd currently level 7 and my younger dd just got picked to join the pre optional group ( they train with the optionals but compete the level they are at, so she competes level 4, but they do a lot...
