Women Deduction for Wrong Vault Value

I am curious what the deduction is (if any) for doing a vault with a different value than what's shown to the judges. DD is going to be competing L9 and plans to do a tsuk LO (she's landing them on hard mats). However, she's told me that if she doesn't feel comfortable on equipment at a meet...

Women What's the hardest part of vault for you/your DD? Jump, take-off, sticking it?

So would do you think, what is the hardest part of a tsuk or a yuri? Some people say it's the jump on the table, some say it's the take-off, but most people I know think it's the landing. In my gym, kids start learning these at L6, sometimes at L5! All of them can do tsuks and yuris into a...

    Women Vault Twisting

I am training Level 10, so I need to learn twisting Yurchenko vaults. However, our gym does not have a vault runway and table into a pit, so I'd be trying my first twisting onto a porta-pit/resi mat. Is this okay? Also, what drills can I do to prepare myself?

    Women Level 8 Vaults

Hi y'all! I'm training level 8 in a super competitive gym in region 1 and my coaches want me to have a 10 SV on everything. What are some vaults I could do that aren't yurchenko entry (issues with that)? Thanks!

Women Wrist pain from Yurchenko vaults

DD has been complaining lately of pain in both wrists, and I suspect that it's because of the extra work she has been doing on vault lately, specifically on Yurchenkos. I know that some of the other girls at the gym have wrist support things they wear for vault, and I guess I need to look into...

Women Improved FHS vault because of work on "flipping" vaults

Do see an improvement in a gymnasts FHS vault once they start training for the tsuk or Yurchenko? It seems that now that DD is training both tsuk and Yurchenko vaults her FHS vault is also becoming a lot better. Now that she has started flipping her tsuk into the pit over the vault that her...

Parents Young gymnast struggling with vault

Hello! My dd just started preschool gymnastics 6 months ago. They moved her to level 2 preteam. She's 4 1/2. She keeps up with the older girls and can do most things. But for whatever reason she cannot figure out how to run and jump on the springboard for vault. Any tips? I've tried running...

    Coaches Need new vault drills

We started over on vault after states (early April). We've worked sprinting, longer hurdles and preflight angle a lot. I've been asking them to do handstand hops to their backs over the table (hands on table, pop to handstand on mat higher than table, fall to back) a lot. Some of them are...

Women never seen this vault? what is it called?

I have just seen tsuks and yurchenkos on vault so far, but yesterday there was a group of girl training a front handspring and then a salto directly after it. Looked like a tsuk but a front salto not a back one. Here is a video: I was wondering what this is called and it is easier than a...

    Coaches Vault for Young Pre-Team

I have a brand new group of sort of "pre" pre-team kids. They are in the 6-7 age range and have been doing rec classes for at least a few months. They only meet 1 hour/week, so hardly any time at all, but I am hoping to at least touch on the most basic things to get them ready for our pre-team...

    Help with front handspring vault?

How do I fix my vault? My coach says I need to reach out more so I put my hands more in the middle, not on the edge. My problem is I put my hands on the edge and I can't reach out more. Do I need more power in my run? Please help as this is my level 4 vault.

Women [Question for other coaches] Front Handspring Vault Board Placement

Hello other coaches (athletes are also welcome to add their input!) I am just curious. I have friends who coach at three other major gyms in my area, while I coach at the fourth. All of us are team coaches and we have a vault/front handspring level. We all disagree with the board placement on...

Women Home conditioning to help with vault

Hi all! My 7-year-old DD is finishing up her L2 season and moving to L3 in a few weeks. She initially started off the L2 season with a mediocre vault--getting in the mid-8s at meets. She ended the season with a 9.3 at States (and state champ in vault-something we never thought we'd see)! Now...

Women Front Hanspring: floor vs vault

I have a front handspring to two feet and a stepout and I have almost a FHS stepout FHS. On the trampoline or airtrack I can easily do bounders. I have never tried a front handspring on vault. Is a bounder on tramp a lot different? How long does this usually take to get a decent vault FH?

    Women Level 6 Vault

Is the only vault option in level 6 a FHS? I'm not very good at interpreting the USAG charts. :)

    Women LVL 4/LVL 5 Vault

DD is almost done with her first LVL 4 season. My DD and the rest of her team lag behind the rest of the field on vault scores. Scores ranges in the sevens and eights across the board. I think I have seen 1-2 9s this season across the team. The optional team seems to be vaulting in line with...
