Before this summer, I NEVER used chalk on beam.
Now I won't step on a beam without chalk on my feet. {I couldn't care less about chalk on my hands.}
I think this is linked to my sudden fear of beam. Maybe chalk makes me feel better.
Because...well, a few months ago, I was doing my cartwheel...
I need two more 'A' skills for my beam routine for level 7.
I need my 180 degree split yet.
I know a split jump is a 'B' skill and I don't need any more 'B's and like I said I need the 'A's.
So what should I do? I was thinking a split leap and some type of jump connection.
Thanks for any help. :)
Because of an injury on my left ankle (don't have enough range of motion to go up to releve), I have changed my turning foot to my right foot.
I travel completely off the beam doing this skill (I fall to the left side if it makes a difference) and it is super frustrating! I also spin quite...
Lately I've been working on a lot of aerials and front handsprings on beam, and I've noticed that it is a LOT harder to get that first foot on than it is in a back handspring.
Most of the time my foot is on really well, but sometimes my foot is off to the side in my aerial and I tweak my ankle...
Okay here's the story, My split change wolf jump is in my beam routine and has a 0.2 bonus for doing the split change. I do not always connect it and i generally wobble during or after. Basically it is a built in deduction. I ask my coach to take it out for state and just do split leap - no...
Hi again! This is my second post on the site, and I love it :) My niece is having trouble with her full turn on beam. I'll let her write about it.
Hi, I can't get my full turn on beam...I start flat foot and everything with my right foot in front and start to turn but when i get 3 fourths of...
Just wondering if anyone else out here has the same problem as me or has some tips.
Anyways, i am learning just your normal side aerial on beam. i have gotten it up to a knee high beam but find it difficult to progress from there. a side aerial is a skill that comes very easily to me and i do...
My (hopefully) L4 daughter is working on her vertical handstand. She is confident if she is about 7/10 of the way up but when is spotted or attempts to go for it she freaks out and jumps off. How can she get over her mental block? Her handstand on floor is great so her coaches are pushing her...
Last year my dd competed a bhs step out on beam (L7). Now she is training her BHS-BHS series for L8, but she is training a 2 foot landing on both rather than the step out. It seems like I most often see the BHS step out. Is there any advantage to doing it either way (i.e. is one easier to...
I've had awful fears before, but never as bad as this one.
It started on Wednesday at normal gymnastics. I refused to do cartwheels on the high beam--even though I have been doing them for a year now--and I refused to do my handstand on any beam.
This strange fear slowly got worse.
Thursday...
Hey guys, so as you all know I am an Intermediate Optional, so therefore I get to have my own beam routine. That being said I have always wanted my mount to be similar to Jordyn Wieber's, but one of the coaches doesn't like middle splits as a mount because of the common flexed feet/bent knee...
Does anyone have a link to the 2008 Olympics beam finals medal ceremony? I can't find it anywhere. I don't mind if it is in a montage, as long as it doesn't have a watermark. I am trying to make a montage of Shawn Johnson, and I would really like to have that in there. I am surprised I couldn't...
hehe im so happy! i went into the gym tonight, and i was determined to get my back tuck dismount, despite never trying it in my life :b so i got a couple spots and then i did it! off of the high beam! lol just so pumped right now. i just cant believe i have a new competition dismount! i have...
Okay so im getting sick of front tucks off of the beam (ugh sooo annoying.) so tonight in gym im starting a back tuck dismount :) so i was wondering if any of you EPIC people have any tips on how to do it?! thanks so much :) <3
I have a bad mental block on my cartwheel on beam. When I was about 9 or 10, I had a decent, but not too consistent, cartwheel on the high beam. There were about 3 times when I got my front foot back down on the beam, but it slipped, and I flew backwards off the beam. (These happened a few...
I have my BWO BWO series on high and compete those. I have done some BWO BHS on high with with a spot and some mats, but I have jammed my finger and completely missed both hands on one too. I really need help getting this down. I have all summer. I am working backwards going back to the floor...
