Hello! First of all, I'm from Norway - so I'm not sure that I got the skill names correct, but I hope you understand what I mean.
Some of my girls are working toe on shoot to handstand in bars. They do it pretty well while we are doing it direct after a sole circle, but we are now working...
So I have quite a conundrum when it comes to handstands on beam. I have sublaxation in my shoulders. I can do a vertical handstand on a 6 inch beam, but when I try and do it on a 4 inch beam, both of my shoulders literally feel as though they have popped out of place, causing both pain and...
I need to know the name of the handstand that's similar to a handstand split, except your back leg bends at the knee and the toe points toward the other foot. The girl in my avatar/picture is doing this kind of handstand.
Does anyone know the "official" name for this handstand? Thanks =)
My level 7 daughter (age 9) likes to hold cast handstands on bars anywhere from 2 seconds to 5. In a meet, if she holds them for 4 or 5 seconds will she get deducted?
Not a front limber yet but close! I FINALLY got it! The simplest thing was holding me back - I always tried to get up from my toes. The girls on my team were saying it was so much easier to get up with flat feet, but that just never felt comfortable to me. But it's the best way, I'll get used to...
back extension, pike backward, whatever it is. I can't push. I end up landing my feet and my head is still on the floor. So I push up with my hands then. I have a recital the 28th and it's in the floor routine...so I need this QUICK! THANKS ^.^ check out my other threads

My daughter is doing a press to handstand on the beam... her arms are slightly bent. Is this a deduction? Her coach doesnt seem to concerned about it, but it seems that it would be a deduction. Any information would be helpful.
*** not sure if this matters but she is starting the press...
On floor - we have to get up into a handstand, then change to a straddle handstand, then lower down to straddle sit. I practice against the wall and I can do the handstand to straddle handstand, but when I lower down my feet just hit the ground instead of sliding outward so I'm in a straddle...
I have girls that can do this skill with perfectly straight legs, but when their feet touch the ground they "bounce" a little. I'm wondering how that "bounce" would be deducted? Would it be better to have them drop to a bent leg bridge with no bounce?
Of course, I have already focused on...
My coach says i am physically strong enough to cast to handstand but I'm too dang scared!Im afraid that my arms will give out causing me to face plant and mess up my neck (silly i know lol).I can do it fine with spot but when it comes to doing it alone i only make it to a little above...
DD did this last night!! I posted a little while back that she was scared of going over on the giants. Well the coach had her start with tuck giants, then raised the bar but still let her do them in tuck, then had her work on them with a tuck and straightening her legs at the bottom, then she...
I had posted in the "Good Luck" forum about my first meet with a new time, so decided I would write a quick, update report. It was just a small, local meet with one other local team that is of a similar skill level (no club teams in the area, so these kids have at most a few years of once/week...
So I really want to add a double handstand pirouette to my floor routine, like where i spin around two full times. It's for high school gym by the way, but i'm wondering if it is a high superior or a bonus high superior? Also If i didn't have a high superior in my floor routine and it was a...
My DD came home from practice with a lot of little red spots (petechaie). Theywere doing conditioning and did 3 min hand stands. Against the wall. I am thinking this is normal from the handstand. Has anyone else exp this or should I put a call into the dr). Btw she is acting very normal...
looking to use these as a second b in a 7 or 8 bar routine. Giant not quite there . Girl has tons of stregth just fear and would like to try these skills to see if they could be an option.
I go to********* in New Mexico and i want to start a gymnastics team at my school ! Im not sure how to start it or what i refer to as when i bring this up with the activity director at my school. My school is ******* very new so i know there hasnt been a team yet. Usually there are Associations...
My level 6 boys are struggling with high bar, because none of them can get that reverse-grip cast-over to give them enough swing for the next few skills.
So I'm looking for two things:
1) What are some strength exercises that specifically target this movement? Or is there a specific...
My dd's coach is starting to ask the girls to do much higher handstands on the beam than what they had been doing previosly. I was just wondering what the best "safety move" is to get out of a handstand gone wrong
(going past vertical). Apparently, the coach has not addressed that issue, as dd...
