This question is from DD - can you compete 2 different vaults in a single meet? She seems to be going back and forth on whether to compete tsuk pike or tsuk tuck. I think she wants to compete pike, but doesn't land it as much as tuck. Is there any restriction on changing for 2nd vault?
Just saw the newest update ---level 8 age 11-12 no pommels on the horse, level 8 13+ still use pommels.
My son is excited about no pommels.

I am the Mum (Aussie expat) of an 11year old Level 8 gymnast in the USA. I am wondering what level in the National stream she could be in Australia? At level 8 they do 4A's and 4 B's in their routines. I have looked for info on Australia websites, but not easy to find - so hoping this forum may...
My son wants to learn Level 8 skills.
I have most of the USAG .pdf files, but cannot find a list of skills and their value? Where is it clearly explained how the Optional Levels work? Where is a list of the skills and the value?
Thanks.
My understanding is that the changes for 8 were small. Allowing for a few C skills. Does anyone know specifically what C's will be allowed on each event?
Do these routines fit the requirements?
Vault: Handspring Full
Bars:
Kip- A
Cast to 45 from vertical- A
1/2 pirouette- B
Clear Hip- C
Sole Circle- B
Long Kip- A
Cast to Handstand- A
Giant- B
Tuck Flyaway- A
Beam:
Tic-toc/BHS- A/B
Full Turn- A
Split 1/4- B
Double switch/wolf- A/A

How big is the difference between level 7 and level 8? My dd completed level 6 last season, but has been training with the level 8 group. The HC wants her to compete level 8. She is ready on bars and beam and working yurchenkos on vault. Not sure if she is working the proper skills on floor...
Can someone please give me a few examples of routines for each event and each level? I am from Canada so if you could use the canadian rules that would be great, but the usag rules are good too! I have posted a link for the canadian rules below:

Can someone clarify the level 8 allowable/required skills on beam and floor? Our girls have been working back tucks on beam, but the coaches are now saying that only C dance skills are allowed on beam & floor. No C acro. This contradicts my understanding from previous threads on here. I have...
I looked back at some of the old threads before the optional requirements were finalized and was curious about a couple schools of thought. First, has there been any discussion at some of the training conferences whether judges should be looking to take additional deductions for those gymnasts...
DD tried a tsuk layout for the first time today. She thought it was a lot easier and she could get more air out of it than her pike. Is that an allowable vault at L8? I understand that it's a 10 SV at L9, so figure she needs to compete the pike this year. She's got a good pike, but she...
So, our gym has taken the opportunity with the J.O. level restructuring to "up" the expectations at each (Optional) level. Coach informed the current L8 girls of the new expectations on beam and floor. They are expected to have a double full on floor as well as C dance which they previously...
Could someone give me a general explanation of the requirements for the "new" level 8? I've seen the links to the requirements but they tend to confuse me a little. And if there's anything else I should know about it, feel free to add it.
Hello,
I found chalk bucket by surfing the web trying to learn more about gymnastics. I personally never did gymnastics so this is all new to me. My daughter has done gym for about two and a half years. She skipped level 4, did a year of 5, did two meets of 6 in the spring to qualify, and then...
