Men Is Level 8 easier than Level 7

This is a debate I am having with HCoach. He insists you must do L 7 to have a good L 8. A friend who is a boys judge says no, L8 is easier.

Women TX Level 8 State Participation

At the start of the state meet this weekend, the head of TxUSAG stated that there were 80 more participants than last year. I find that incredible. That is a 34% increase. I wish USAG would post annual participation numbers. I am wondering what else everyone is noticing in their state and...

    Women L8 Regional Qualification

Can anyone tell me how to figure out who qualified for regionals? We live in TX and have 1 L8 at our gym who competed at state this weekend. She's 13 and finished 27th (out of 59) in her age group with an AA score of 36.45. The USAG website shows 66 13 year olds from TX can be sent to regionals...

Coaches Level 8 Beam series options

Hello, I am relative new to coaching Beam, actually its my first year in 10 years of coaching haha, so I am definitely behind the ball on it. I have a level 8 that can do BHS-BHS series which is ideal, but she is kinda on her way out, and the connection has been nothing but headache for her so...

Women L8 - not up to level deductions?

Now that the regular season is coming to a close, I was curious what judges and coaches have been seeing on the deductions for "not up to competitive level" for level 8. Are judges using this deduction for routines that don't include the 1 extra allowable 'C' skill? How about for 'A' vs 'B'...

    Women Level 8 beam help

My DD is a level 8 who has been dealing with an elbow issue (little league elbow) for the past month. She is starting to come back, but BHS on beam (and on floor) still bother her elbow. Her current beam routine has BHS BHS in it, but her elbow may not be ready for that impact. Any thoughts...

Women L8 - 'Up to Competition Level'

Now that competition season has started for many gymnasts, I'm wondering what everyone is seeing as the standard for L8 and above for the 'up to competition level' requirement. I'm curious if the optional C skills seem to be in play or what the general standards are to meet this requirement (it...

    Women Level 8 Vaulting

What criteria are used in deciding to have a gymnast vault a tsuk versus a yurchenko? How early does a coach make a decision? How common is it for gymnasts to learn both?

Coaches Number of level 8 tumbling passes

I'm looking for input on how many tumbling passes you require in a level 8 floor routine? Your reasoning for it would really help me out. Im thinking less is better. First pass: rf ff full and second pass: front handspring, front pike, front tuck. What are the pro's and con's of two passes...
