Like many of your boys, my DS had his first meet of the season on Saturday. It was a small meet; next weekend will be a huge one so it was nice to start small. I still don't understand the scoring but I'm sure we will get used to it! His worst events last year were pommel and high bar and those...
Just got home from the first "official" meet of the year. The boys had so much fun, as they always do. And I got to talk to trapar for a bit, and watch her son too (awesome job BTW!!!!) I have had a nasty cold all weekend so wasn't feeling as social as usual, but it was so fun to see her :)...
DD had her first "official" L6 meet this weekend. She did Judge's Cup a couple of weeks ago and did well but she doesn't consider it an official meet because it doesn't do any awards. Good warm up meet so she like it. She had a very solid meet. Not her best, vault was an almost disaster...
It's really hard for me on this one. Because she did better but her scores were lower for the most part, except beam.
Everything was much cleaner. She missed the high bar kip AGAIN, and didn't fight for it this time. (she found out she didn't get credit for it anyway last time..sooo...) Other...
I had my first comp at the weekend and I had no idea it would be so long!! I was there for 6 hours !
First up was vault. My first one was a bit iffy but I stuck the landing on the 2nd one- score of 10.350 and 15 place on vault.
Over to bars, I wasn't sure I was even going to compete bars...
I'm so excited! I just got back from my first Provincials and I qualified for Atlantics! The top 6 go. I am absolutely ecstatic. It is a little bittersweet because my sister who is in the same level didn't qualify.
Can't put placements/scores because it would be easy to find out who I am if I...
Well dd competed this weekend her only 2nd comp she has ever done. She came 4th overall out of 33 girls. She was coming 2nd the whole way until last rotation where she stuffed vault however I think she did a great job, especially after being sick all week.
Her beam was just wonderful best I...
For those of you Chalk Bucketers who went to Pac Rims Days 1 or 2, what did you think?
Pickle had the time of her life. We had amazing seats, in the first row just at the end of the beam. In the TV broadcast, you can just make out her rapt little face during the dismounts.
We went to both...
Alex had a fantastic meet last Sunday! It was a very small meet just us and one other team. Unfortunately our team came in 2nd. Alex placed 2nd AA out of about 10 girls.
They went out of the typical rotation.
Vault was first - 8.725 - Best vault this season! 5th place
Beam - fell on that...
Well, my DD just competed in her very first meet this weekend! It was so much fun! She competed Level 3; this is technically their "off-season", but her gym hosts a large invitational every spring. As DD's been with the "old" 3's, we decided to let her compete with her teammates in her first...
DD and I are so happy that she finally reached that magic age of 7 and was able to start competing level 5. I'm so proud of her and happy for her! She had a meet recently and it went really well. She made it into the 8 range on vault which is a gigantic accomplishment for her. Vault has not come...
My second advanced prep op meet was this weekend and I did really well. My two goals were to make my tsuk and get a 36 AA, and I did both. :)
Scores:
Started on bars: 9.425. I was really surprised! I have good form and usually score around a 9.2 but this routine was off - the bars felt close...
We had our first optional meet yesterday. Can I say how much I LOVE optionals??? Not only is it about a gazillion times more fun to be at a meet without listening to the same midi soundtrack on repeat for hours but Allison is totally in her element as an optional. She had so much fun yesterday...
Wow. Long drive. Little sleep in hotel bed (luckily DD slept just fine). 6:10 wake-up call. 7:30 start time. Long drive home. Very tired, but hopped up on convenience store coffee. What we won't do for our kids!
Definitely less intense meet than the others we've been to this season (no lark...
Hi Everyone! Crazy gymnastics weekend for our family - my gymmies competed back to back on Sunday so we literally spent 10 hours at a gymnastics meet!
I'll start with little dd because she competed in the morning... I'll start by saying her goal for the day was to get an 8 on bars since she...
Alex had her State Meet Dec 3rd and had the best meet so far this season!
They only had 1 qualifier meet leading up to this meet and she just barely qualified to even go to states! Needed a 32 AA and got a 32.050 AA.
There were a total of 15 girls competing if you combine all age groups...
First of all tiny DD had her preteam exhibition and it was the cutest thing ever. They did floor and beam...no bars so she did not get to try out her new pullover. Oh well. They could have stood there and did nothing and it would have still been awesome because they are all so cute. I hope...
DD had her 2nd L4 meet yesterday. She ended up in an 8-11 year old age group because there weren't enough of each age to break it down furthur (and she's still 7)! Here's how she did:
Started on vault - Our team was up first and my DD went first (she volunteered - ugh! lol). Score was 8.0, down...
Great meet today. I am always greatful for well-organzied, on-time meets with good photographers (even if purchasing the pictures can put a major crimp in my bank account!). It was two weeks since Kathy's last meet and she was on vacation for 10 days of that, so I was just hoping for her not to...
