My DD has a meet this weekend and the email sent out with the info said this,
"Awards - No rankings. Goodie bag and all around medal only. (We will handle the goodie bag)"
I was under the impression that, per the code, there has to be awards to 40% for each event and the AA. Does the lack of...
So latest meet. Under the weather...still with the flu but she got out there....and floor was lovely....I didn't get all the scores on video but thought they were a bit strict. Scores were fair across the meet...if you have any thoughts that would be great, if not...enjoy...

Can anyone recommend a good app for tracking meets and scores? I know I saw several mentioned on here before, but I can't remember which one was better. Thanks!
Or gym is hosting a state meet in early May. We have been given the go-ahead to plan a table for gymnast gifts/"good luck grams".
I'm just looking for some ideas that would sell well and that parents and girls would enjoy.
Thanks!!
My DD has a meet coming up in Reno, and I have started to research hotels etc.
We have a really old (2001) car that's not 100% reliable, so I planned to rent a car to drive to the meet. Then I found out that rental cars do not rent or allow snow chains to be placed on their tires. Driving from...
Hi,
I make and sell leotards. I have an Etsy store but honestly do not sell much on there. Almost all my leotards are sold in the gym to rec and I do the team leos. I was just wondering if anyone knows how I would get my foot in the door at a meet. We don't host any meets at our gym. Any ideas...
DD has never fallen or missed a big skill in competition, so this meet was devastating for her. She hasn't been scoring all that well (She's doing Xcel Gold until she can score out of 4/5, so scoring high is not HC's goal) but she's been getting dinged on form and wobbles, so in her mind this...
I competed my first level 9 meet today!! I got 2nd on floor and 3rd on beam ( and 4th on vault bars and all around) but I only do floor and beam so.. There were only 4 girls in my age group but I didn't fall and I happy with how I did, next meet next weekend!
Ok my dd has a meet and is suppose tot go to a party where they are going to a nail salon, anyhow would it be bad if she got french type nails done ( not lengthen just her reg nails that she has). Is there a deduction for that ?
I know in running, before a race, it is good to taper the workouts to optimize race times the day of. Is there the same benefit in gymnastics? I noticed that at my daughter gym, they train the full 5 hours the day before a meet. I'm guessing they don't do intense conditioning that day, but even...
Hi all. I'm chairing the raffle committee for the meet my ds's gym hosts. I'm wanting to be creative and efficient in the way we approach raffle. In the past, we made parents shop and put together baskets and it was determined to be too burdensome and it wasn't clear that the return on the...
So this level 10 thing is a learning experience. Second meet, big invitational...bars caught both releases but some litte errors and dismount was touchy, beam...mounted reverse her normal, realized it....and had to freestyle the rest of the routine to make the acro fit and dismount on the right...
I will be having my first gymnastics meet this Sunday! I am super nervous already. I have know idea what to expect. Tips? Also how should I style my hair. We don't have a specific team hairstyle, so we can do anything that will get your hair out of your face. I was thinking of a curling my hair...
Our compulsory teams compete USAG in the fall and AAU in the spring. Due to coach changes last fall, our L4/5 had a really rough fall season, with very few even qualifying for states (AA 32). Things have improved and my DDs rocked their last USAG meets but several teammates have not been...
We have a pretty large team and they are often split in to two groups within the same session. However, at this point we only have one coach and she often judges the sessions we compete in. The plan for the next meet is that her children will coach the boys. Both are fine coaches, however...
How many meets do your boys compete at each season? Our Level 4s are doing four meets plus states this season, and I know the coach intentionally went with fewer meets because this is the boys' first season.
I looked at what a few competing teams are doing and their L4s are doing 6-10 meets...
My dd did a meet this past weekend and most of the gymnasts were excell ,
There were 2 teams of JO 1 level 3 and 2 level 5s rest were 4 , I had one of the 2 5s and both of the 5 girls are our team and diff ages. Well my dd got first for AA
Just seems like they should have cancled the meet...
What do you wear to coach in?
I usually wear some sweat pants to coach in, but I'd like to look a bit nicer at competition. Nobody wants to see me in yoga pants, but that's about all I'm finding in stores. I know we're not supposed to wear jeans. Are khakis okay?
Alright, here we go! He is cleared to compete, is flipping vaults, and doing everything. He was all set to compete on Saturday night at 5:30. Rough trip (3+hours in the mountains) so we had planned to go up tomorrow and stay thru SUnday.
And thank goodness we did! HC found out last night...
