I have a question about vault training. How much do you spent on teaching proper running technique or DO running and running drills? Our gymnasts used to have a separate running practice once a week (1 hour) last year but not anymore (not my choice) and now we have to do all the running training...
Hi all, will post this in UK too in case this isnt the right place but my son is competing a squat through shortly in a comp (United Kingdom) and I wondered what are the constituant parts to get a "perfect" score. I'm an assistant coach and would like to be able to spot him more effectively. he...

I have been following the "FHS-vault not clicking" and commenting as my daughter has struggled with this vault all season. Instead of hijacking the OP thread, I wanted to make some additional comments about DD's last meet!
Recap-DD is 7 years old, just wrapped up her Level 4 season, now...
DD has been having a lot of trouble with the FHS vault. Her scores have been 8.6, 8.5, and two 8.4s, in that order. So they're going in the wrong direction too. Her coaches always give her corrections, but it seems like she trots right back up the runway and forgets everything. HC gets...
It seems as though throughout my dd 's gymnastics career, all of the changes have been subtle... The jump to level 8 is enormous especially vault! ( she is going from 6 to 8) the other changes have not been that big but vault is the biggest one. She has her first level 8 meet in 10 days and it...
I have taught this vault since I started coaching and have never had a kid who didn't get it at all until now. I have used all of the terms that I know, all of the different tricks that get most kids there and some drills that should get her there. I've asked a few coaches about it also and none...
That breaks down what the gymnast is doing step by step. I think it may have been posted by iwannacoach.
My amateurish searching skills are eluding me...
TIA :)
What is the proper way for the L3 to salute after their vault (Handstand flatback)
Do they have to sit up on the mat and salute, or can they get off the mat, stand on the floor and salute?
DD has previously competed tsuks vaults well. After a long break from working these vaults she is going back to tsuks. She is having a lot of trouble with the entry. Her coach keeps telling her she turns too early. She has been trying to fix this for a month now without much progress. She...
This question is from DD - can you compete 2 different vaults in a single meet? She seems to be going back and forth on whether to compete tsuk pike or tsuk tuck. I think she wants to compete pike, but doesn't land it as much as tuck. Is there any restriction on changing for 2nd vault?
My dd is a new level 3 and just turned 6. She is a teeny tiny one and is struggling with vault. She is 41" and 38lbs, she can't seem to hit the handstand, she is kind of landing on the mats and doing a pike-press to a handstand then falling to a flat-back. Thats's with a spot. I think she just...
I don't have the book with me right now, but I was wondering about the deduction for a lack of arm circle for Level 2 Vault. I have a gymnast who has a great vault, but doesn't circle. When she does circle, her vault slows way down and is just generally not as explosive. We will keep trying...
Recently, I have been practicing a front front for my level nine vault. However, it's proving to be close to impossible to land on mats, but I don't know how smart it is to try to switch back to my tsuk now that meet season is creeping up. Any advice?
Upon landing on the flatback (for L3 vault) is there a deduction if the arms or feet are up in the hollow position, or does the whole body need to be FLAT on the mat?
