The USAG boys compulsory vaults are as follows:
Level 4: Straight jump from a springboard to a mat
Level 5: Front tuck from a springboard to a mat.
Level 6: Front handspring
Level 7: Yamashi ta (there isn't supposed to be a space there, but the swear filter on the forums doesn't like the...
Ok so i had a mom ask me a questions i could not answer.
Can a USAG Girls Level 5 Vault on the zero setting on vault with out incuring a deduction.
If there is a deduction how much is it??
Thanks
Im running low on ideas and need some help!
I coach a level 5 team. My new level 5s learned how to vault over the summer. Most picked up the concept quickly and can successfully make it over with no spot. But some are still very ugly.
Ex: Slow run, stutering before the board, Bent knees, no...
My daughter is a level 8. Her yurchenko vault has been inconsistent so her coach is having her compete a different vault for a few meets. She will be doing a front handspring with a half twist or a front handspring with a full twist. What is the start value for each of these vaults?
Anyone have good (maybe even fun) drills to help my daughter improve her jumps (straight & split) and her sprint to vault. She isn't a great runner... her form on the handstand flatback looks great, but her run earns a lot of deductions.
Thanks!
I am trying to understand the rationale for the setting of the vault table in training front handspring vaults at Level 5. The coaches seem to set it higher than the girls can get over, forcing them to either: 1) not make it over the table at all, 2) take steps or hops with their hands to...
Hello! I'm a level 5 gymnast and my first meet is in one month today, (november 21st) and my front handspring on vault is having some problems.
whenever i try and keep my legs straight. I don't bloch with my shoulders, making me arch off the table. and wherever I try to bloch.. my legs bend, and...
In the world champs vault final, the commentators noticed that the flag for out-of-bounds- was going up even when the gymnast was still in those train track lines.
I was wondering if the red line going down the center of the mats has anything to do with the flag going up?
While I probably should have posted this in the coaches forum, I want to leave it open to everyone.
While I understand that limiting yourself by taking away certain skills is an exercise in futility, I wanted some opinions on this.
Are yurchenko vaults necessary to teach?
As I understsand...
My little 6 year old level has a mental block on the springboard for the vault. Excellent run...beautiful flat back but 90% of the time hits the springboard too low and hits the mat. It's gotten to the point she's worried about practice because they might do vault LOL. Last night she messed...
Judges, Ineed your help, coaches too, or anyone..... mostly judges tho, I am about 5'7" I am in level 4. For the vault, my past three meets,my scores have been a 9.2. Then, my past two meets, i have gotten, 8.6 and 8.7s.... Why? my coaches have asked the judges but htey have no reason, they...
I noticed that there was no mention of floor and vault (2 piece) competition here? Do these not take place in other countries? Floor and vault competition is often an option for older gymnasts or gymnasts who only train a few hours a week. Some clubs have floor and vault squads, and some also...
Hi,
I am just wondering if it matters what height my daughter vaults on? The coaches adjust the table based on needs to achieve the best situation for the girls. I have heard that the higher the table the score will be higher? Is that true???? My daughter unfortunately had a growing spurt...
We are fairly new gym owners. We have taken our time buying equipment and buy only what is needed. We are at the point where we have all recreational kids and one level 4 team. We are looking to buy either the vault table or the vault table trainer. We have limited space and thought that the...
I have a question for coaches. When you are teaching gymnasts to do the front handspring vault (ones who haven't done it before), how do you set the vault table? Would you start them on a low table, have them perfect the vault on that and then move it up? Would you have them learn the vault...
In my experience, the most common cause of piking is leaning too far forward on the board. Here are a couple things I would try:
1) Start the run a little further back (say 6 to 12 inches), forcing her to take a longer hurdle
2) Tell her to think about pushing the board forward with her feet...
Dd has started working on her level 4 skills. She got her shoot-thru last night. YAY!!!!! Already has her ROBHS.
She is having issues with the vault (piking) and the front hip circle.
Any tips on the vault so that she doesn't pike anymore. One of the level 7's said she is reaching...
i REALLY want to learn a front handspring front vault this summer.
i went to OSU gymnastics camp a couples of years back and had them going into a pit..but unfortunately my gym doesnt have a pit..
any drills??
My daughter has always seemed to have vaulting issues. She used to pike over the table, then she was in a tight hollow position for a while. One meet she gets a 9 then next meet 2 weeks later a 7.9. Her coach is fantastic. I was hoping someone could look at her video from states. Maybe someone...
Back when I posted my thread about how I hate hollow casts, Rick McCharles posted about my post on his blog. A heated discussion followed in the comments section, in which I briefly touched on similar issues I have with the progression used by USAG to teach a front handspring vault. So I'm going...
