Hi! My DD competed L6 last year, and would like to transition to Xcel this year. Xcel is relatively new at her gym, and I was wondering how that transition works. Does she have to do some sort of score out meet? Or can she just do her first meet at the Xcel level that matches the skills she...
I'm writing an essay about gymnastics for one of my college applications and want to include when the Xcel program was started. My best guess from google searches is 2013 but I can't find the exact information. Does anyone know?
Another xcel question.... Is there anywhere you can find a list of these skills online? We have the COP at the gym but I'm supposed to start thinking about skills I want in my routine this year. I see things like "6 As and 2Bs" but where can I find a list of A skills vs B vs C?
I know it's reallyyyy early to start thinking about meet season, but we are paying meet fees in these next few months. Regionals is listed at the bottom, and it made me curious as to how you would qualify to this meet. I'm in region 6. Thanks!
Our gym has never promoted this program. Quite the opposite actually. It has been looked at as a program for cast offs. The kids the coaches are tired of dealing with whether it be fear issues or injuries.
I would like to hear experiences from parents, former or current kids in the program and...
DD's first "real" competitive season is a wrap. I say real because last year she did rec team as a 2, and this year she competed Xcel bronze. It was a big jump last summer from about 2-2.5 hours per week to 9. There were many times I wondered if she would he able to handle it, and indeed there...
I happened to be looking at the results of this weekend's Florida Excel Championships on mymeetscores (Props to getting those scores out in a timely fashion!) and noticed that some of the gyms had girls who had just competed in the state compulsory championships at the end of 2015 (Level 3 and 4...
I have a kid with some major fear and confidence issues. She has been competing a lever so far this year and scoring relatively well. She has been working really hard on her handstand but it's still not quite there, but she really wants to compete it this weekend. She gets her top leg to almost...
My daughter completes xcel gold...the last 2 meets she has received a 9.5 start value. Her cast seems above horizontal (slightly pikey- but still above horizontal) . Her tap swings could be a little higher. She does a tap swing half turn (L4) dismount. Is there any way that they are not...
So, with 44 judges (throwing out the high and low scores), this Xcel Bronze Routine scored an 8.275.
Granted, the judges have NEVER seen Xcel Bronze before… AND they were all between the ages of 7 and 17…AND many of them are in Level 3 or Level 4, so have never dealt with Start Values before...
I have been falling when doing the punch front dismount off beam. I noticed a few other people doing round-off"s and since I have a meet in just two short days, was wondering if there is a deduction for competing a round-off as a dismount for Xcel gold.
Thanks!
My DD is doing Platinum this year after being in JO. We have a large xcel team but this is the first year offering platinum as we tend to focus on JO for skills aligned with level 6 and up. So, I am not sure if there is some missing info, but I am trying to understand if my DD is missing a B...
I was on here a while back and found a Xcel forum to chat and ask question with other Xcel parents but now can't find it. Would love any help. Thanks so much.
I wanted to comment on another thread I was reading about xcel and huge variants in routines. Not a bash, it was a good read, but I still have some thoughts. Allow me to give some background info. Im on xcel silver right now, and I competed level 3 last year. It took me 6 months to get the full...
Hi. I have been wondering this for a long time..... My daughter competes Xcel Gold this year, and as I watch gymnasts throw big skilled routines and earn 9.2s, I see them get beat by gymnasts doing the minimum, easiest skills allowed, earning 9.3 and winning. How is it that kids who compete...
I thought xcel silver bar routines had to have 5 elements? I keep seeing silver bar routines of YouTube eith
Glide swing
Pullover
Back hip circle
Dismount
That's only 4. How is their start value 10?
i keep seeing Xcel brought up as an excellent choice for gymnasts who are "uneven" in their skills (which I do agree with, BTW!).
But.... They do still have to be *somewhat* proficient across the board. There's definitely tons more freedom and choices but it's not completely open, KWIM?
As far...
1. Does it matter the order you do the tumbling passes? On my bronze, they do the connected pass at the end of the routine.
2. On bars, I saw some silver doing squat on, jump off for dismount. Is this acceptable?
3. My gymnastics do roundoff backward roll to a pose on floor. Is this...
I'm trying to clarify the requirements for my Xcel girls. All of my scel girls were Rec. gymnastics pulled from classes, so I'm abit limited with their abilities.
For Silver on bars, A cast counts as it's own skill, correct?
Currently, I have my girls doing:
Glide Swing, Pull over, Cast, Back...
At a meet I was at today, there was a male xcel silver division, with only one boy in it, but I thought it was interesting. I know at regionals last year there was a male xcel platinum, so it has happened before. As far as I knew, xcel was only for WAG, not for MAG. Does anyone know any rules...
