I am losing my bars skills and don't know why.I tried privates but my scores are still dropping.:confused:My coaches told me to think about me doing a 10.00 routine.I did that at a meet and my scores got higher but not like my usual good scores. What should I do to go back to my good routines?Do...
In my effort to learn this new L7 world, I am curious about a couple items that impact scoring. On floor - if you land a tumbling pass and then immediately go to a lunge position, is that considered a step? DD says it's not, and it may just be something for optionals. Second, one of the other...
Is it legitimate to be able to do a skill nicely on the low bar, but be afraid of it to the point where you cannot do it on the high bar? How can you work through such a fear? I assume it is a bit of a numbers game, because it is a new skill.
Any experience or thoughts?!?!
Time is ticking...
My coach has decided to change my routine to an, "Easier, cleaner," routine and I'm wondering if this will affect my scores... I used to have an ok routine with a major release... Now my coach wants the following.
Level 10
Kip cast handstand
Blind
Front Giant
Pirouette
Bail Handstand
Stalder...
I have a question about the level 5 dismount on bars. My daughter has been told different things by her different coaches, and I was curious what the "correct" answer to her question is. She turns to her left when dismounting. What are her hands supposed to do? First her right hand. One...
Hi! I have a question about using grips on uneven bars. So, I am an optional gymnast who, at the moment, doesn't wear grips on bars. At my old gym, grips became a requirement when moving level 5 to level 6. I tried to use them at that point. I had a good quality grips, but I COULD NOT get used...
Hi everyone! This is my first post in chalkbucket!:p Ok, so I am a level 7 gymnast, first year. I got invited to do some level 7 at the end of last year ( last month of season), but I got very sick and performed poorly at states, so that didn't work out. So, I need to think about my bar routine...
Just looking for suggestions on the best way to protect heels when learning releases...my daughter is getting close to catching and said it is time to put something on her heels. She mentioned knee pads (from Home Depot) or hockey elbow pads. Surely there is a product designed just for gymnasts...
My older dd has a very nice Yeager.... That is on top of the foam block pit. It's perfect and caught every single time, but when she does it between the (real) bars she changes it. She lets go too late or too early and instead of catching them all she catches 1/3. Sometimes even worse. She says...
Hi everyone,
the gym where I train has a lot of recreational non-gymnast types (mostly kids), they use the high bar for doing pull ups and also as a strap bar, consequently it's pretty slippery. So slippery that even plain giants don't feel safe. Girls put honey and sugar and water and...

I'm really hoping for an individual medal for the US gymnasts (espically Aly).
Once again I will be checking for results online late in the day.
Good Luck to all and No Falls Please!
I did my Level 5 dismount for the first time ever 2 years ago at camp. I did it onto a mat and I landed it! :D So, last gymnastics class, when they told us we were going to begin practicing Level 5 dismounts over the pit, I was excited. They taught us how to do them, and then set up stations...
In your opinion which bar releases are the
1) easiest to learn
2) hardest to learn
3) most progressive or best at progressing to more difficult releases
4) least progressive
5) best scoring
6) best not learned
My daughter is training level 9. I am just curious. :-)
Hey guys,
So a couple of the girls at our gym and I have been working on Bails, Geingers, and Yaegers (is that spelled right?) on bars. I was wondering if anyone would like to share what drills they do at their gyms to prepare themselves to better learn the skills. I also wanted to know if anyone...
Hi everyone! I just joined this site today! :)
I've only been doing gymnastics for about 5 weeks and I'm 17. So I'm a complete beginner. I hope I'm allowed to post here because it does say "gymnasts only" and I don't know if I count as one!
I went on the bar for the second time yesterday. I...
My dd is starting to train release moves on bars. I watched last night as the coach spotted her on some drills. She said it was a bail? Also, last year her team up-trained straddle backs, but my dd was injured so she didn't get to train release moves last summer.
I am just looking for...
So, I'm currently in level 8, and it seems that the most important thing right now on bars to my coaches is whether or not we hold my feet. In their defense, my teammates and I do drag our feet a lot, but how important is the pirouette in a level 8 routine?
How big of a deduction is it to hit...
Make a strap bar using the high bar of the women's uneven bars? I'm just thinking there has to be some way of doing this safely....
This probably sounds like a horrible idea to some of you...
Anyway, for those coaches without access to strap bars, how do you train giants and other stuff...
