I thought Level 7 bars were pretty standard, but I have seen lots of funky stuff this season and I'm just curious about deductions and start values. Some of the routines were clearly missing elements (I've seen a few do kip, cast (not to HS), clear hip (again, not HS), flyaway...I'm sure that is...
I tried doing a search on here, but didn't see too much about L3. Is there a good source for what the judges look for during the routine? We were very confused about the judging at a meet this weekend and wondering what I'm missing (probably a lot :p). Thanks!
So...4 weeks after a fracture she did bars and beam. First Level 10 Meet without a fall!!!!! First level 10 meet with all 9's LOL only two events but we will take it!!!
I have a question about the cast handstand for a Level 6.
Which would score better - a new, less-than-stellar straddle handstand that makes it about 20 degrees above horizontal, or a very pretty, very tight & straight cast that only makes it about 10 degrees above horizontal?
For a coach -...
What are the cast requirements for level 6 bars? Low bar cast is low, but if she casts almost to HS on the high bar does that fulfill the requirements?
Thanks!
We got an old set of uneven SA bars but the wood is pretty worn down, they are very slippery. Is there anything we can do besides replacing the wooden bars? Can we sand them down?
Today was very stressful because of one thing... Squat ons. Every time I do a squat on I do it correctly, but when I catch the high bar I always slip/peel off the bar. I will most likely be missing some meets because of it! Any advice?
I few months ago, someone posted some videos about peeling and especially why some good coaches stand IN to catch.... I have tried to search CB but nothing comes up....any help?
I want to show a friend who has no idea what could possibly go wrong with tap swings.....
I've heard rumours that a squat on, jump off dismount is acceptable now. I can't find it in any xcel updates, does anyone know where it is so I can show it to my coaches?
Quick question for all of you who have been here, what scores better in your opinion, or experience.
A clean routine with good form, which makes it above horizontal on all casts, and free hip, but does not get up to handstand.
Or
A routine with not good form, a bit sloppy, but that can get...
I've been told that cast to horizontal is the requirement.
I've been told, though, that if they don't go to handstand, it's a 9.50 starting value.
I've also been told that without the handstand, they lose amplitude deductions.
So can someone tell me - does this mean, for someone who hits "just...
DD had an in house meet recently and her coaches had her do a straddle dismount. She got a deduction and is now working a pike dismount to get ready for her next meet. But I was just curious as to what the deduction for that would have been?
I am looking for a video of a bar routine with giant free hip giant combo. After 2 years of level 6 my DD hits her feet on the mat after free hip on low bar. Also, her cast HS is not vertical. In order to help with these deductions, she is experimenting with an immediate squat on and only one...
DD desperately wants bars for Christmas. Of course, then we'd also need mats and it gets pretty expensive. Anybody have a kip bar at home, and if so, does your child use it a lot?
Hello! My DD's coach thinks her free hip to handstand is better than her cast to handstand for pirouetting. I think it sounds like a harder, riskier routine. Does this make sense to anyone? Have you guys seen it done often in level 8? She is still getting a hang of level 8 routines, so she...
Hi,
Every Saturday I coach a intermediate rec class, but there is one girl in my class who should be in begginer. I've talked to her mom about it but she says that we should try for a few more weeks to see if she gets better. The main problem is she is scared of being upside down, and this...
Bars is something i struggle with, i pretty much have my kip and I have my chin up pullover of one leg. My teacher says that if I want to compete I have to have my chin up pullover of two feet slow. But I can't do it it's to hard I can never get on the bar. Advice?
DD is repeating level 4. Bars has been her struggle. She's one of this kids that works hard but skills take a long time for her to get.
Last night she came home from practice excited. She made all her kips and all her squat ons. I was so happy for her! Fingers crossed that she is past the...
My DD is fairly weak on bars as a L5. She recently changed gyms and they do the TOPS conditioning program, which is much more intense than her previous conditioning. How many weeks of that conditioning will pass before it really starts to show on bars?
