DD wants me to figure out if she doing her back tucks on beam correctly or not. She starts off with one foot slightly in front of the other then when she does the tuck she puts her feet back together, then tries to seperate them right before landing. Is this right? Or should she keep one foot...
Ok, so next year i will (provided everything goes smoothly) be competing level 6 and for beam, instead of my handstand straight jump i can do a flic for bonus (my handstand rarely gets paid as it is not held for 2 secs so the bonus would be worth it) and well......My coach has me working on them...
Hey,
Are there any tips for connecting front handspring-back tuck on beam? I can do front handspring- back handspring fine, but for some reason I can't do the back tuck as easily. And by the way I'm not scared to go, I've done a lot of them, just I can't seem to connect most of them.
Thanks
DD has been complaining about pain in her wrists when practicing backhandsprings on the beam. She has never complained about wrist (or any pain) before, so I was thinking about getting her some type of wrist support. I did a search on Chalk Bucket and there were some other discussions on Tiger...
I need help!
I finished competing Level 4 in April, and since then, I've been working on skills and drills for Level 5. I don't really have any of the skills yet. But, I've got my RO 2 BHS sometimes.
I just have SO much trouble with my cartwheel on beam! We have a low beam that is wider than...

I was reading a thread, and I read that a coach allows honey to be used on the beam instead of chalk! Struck me funny. I was wondering why you would do this, the pros and cons of it and honey on the apparatus vs. chalk on it.
This is a question for everyone, but I would love to hear from the coaches. My dd is freaking out because they were just told no more chalk on beam. She is training level 8 and has had her bhs bhs solid for a month or so. Now, the no chalk rule is institued because the beams were just...
My daughter is trying to work on her back walkover for the beam. She is struggling with getting her hands closer together for the beam.
any help/advice would be appreciated that I can pass along to her!
Thanks!!
Just curious, but how common is it to use mats on the beam? do you/your gymnasts use mats on the beam? if not, why not? What skills do they use it on? do they become attached to it when they cant use it at competition? what type of mat do they use?
We are allowed to use mats at our gym. most of...
As alot of you already know my DD Alex has a major fear of the BWO on any beam except the lowest beam. Last night I go to pick her up and she is doing BHS on one of the higher beams (mind you there are mats stacked all the way up but she would not do a BWO there to save her soul!!). I think...
I have been doing cartwheels and handstands on low beam for a year, but I cannot do them on high beam.
I am afraid of falling over in my handstand, and my coaches tell me to twist off, but I don't know how!!! Also, when I practice them on the floor beam, I often fall completely to the side...
I am so excited. One of the L10 from my DDs gym who went to nationals has been working on the illusion to scale move for quite awhile before doing it at this years nationals. Her name is Lane Jarred and if any of you other gymnasts want to learn the move you can see it on you tube or on Lane's...
So I have been trying to get my FWO on beam....
Here is the thing, Im not scared! BUT... I cant get over! My split handstand is fine, but when I try to do the walkover...NOPE! I just cant get that foot down! Does anyone know some tricks?
For those who watch make it or break it:
Did anyone else notice how WIDE the beam was? It makes sense, so the stunt doubles and actresses can do everything, but they never showed it until recently. It was especially noticeable in the finale... It looked to be at LEAST a foot wide!
I just...
Is it worth doing a press handstand mount vs something safer? Dd coach wants her to do this in her routine and someone said it was a too risky to chance a fall for a mount.
hey guys, I have a competition coming up. At this competition we compete 4 skills on each apparatus except vault. It's really good because we can compete skills in higher levels (our best skills). I'm having trouble finding unique Poses for beam and floor and Dance sequences for beam and floor...
hi,
I would love to make a beam , i won't do any dangerous things on it only stuff like cartwheels and spins :) I'm sure i would use it because i have alot of time sitting around :L
Also, i only want it on the floor. Not off ground more than a few cm.
the problem is, I don't know how to make it...
I can land my cartwheel on the beam but i just fall ( jump) off straight after,
(Sometimes i stay on though (: )
I have drawn a line as thick as the beam and practiced on it but , i still do the same thing :(
I have tried making a 'T' with my hands (it never helped)
i have looked under...
