I got to thinking after I read another post that every gym seems to have different ways of picking kids for the team and different philosophys for what skills they need to be able to do to be moved to team. My dd gym has a week long tryout camp that they use to pick the team and preteam. I...
Hello, New to the sight. Looking forward to my daughter and I getting to use it and help her towards her gym goals.
One question that I have had burning in my mind is that do you have to compete level 4 or can you just work out as a level 4. There seems to be mixed feedback:confused:.
Wow there are alot of us parnets with new level 4. Let's check in here.
DD is 7, starting to train level four and will compete starting in January. Has 3 level 3 meets under her belt.

I am seeing a lot of talk about first and second years at L4 and it seems like a lot of girls do L4 more than once. As my DD is just moving up to L4, I'm curious about this. Are we talking about AAU or USAG L4? How common is it to repeat L4? Why do they repeat? Are there certain skills that give...

Hello,
I have a question. My 9 yr old daughter who has been cheering for 3 years wants to concentrate on gymnastics. She is very strong and flexible and has been picking up some of the skills on bars and beam pretty quickly since she has started taking classes within the last month. Generally...
Does anyone have video of the old Level 4 floor routine? My daughter was trying to remember the routine/music (she was on pre-team at the time), and I can't find a video clip of it. If anyone could post one to share, that'd be great. Thanks!
How much of a deduction is it in the level 4 bar routine if a gymnast does 1 1/2 mill circle but doesn't fall off.. .rocks back up to the bar and then does another mill circle?
Well, I think the debate is over. DD is absolutely adamant that she does NOT want to skip level 3 nor change gyms. She doesn't want to miss out on doing the shoot-through on bars and the side handstand dismount on beam (without the twist added in L4; that kind of scares her). She also does...
Okay let's just say I seriously think that the gym thinks they can just cut practice and not make up my daughter's practices anytime they want and expect parents not to get made when they pay fees for 3 practices a week. We pay 150 a month which is 20 more dollars than the 2 day a week groups...
Is the arm circle required on the level 4 vault?
Why do some teams do the arm circle and some don't?
It seems that the teams who do it, get higher vault scores.
Just wondering...

Emily had some tough competition again. I don't know what is with the 8 year old groups at meets but boy they just throw up the highest scores of all the age groups in every meet. First of all... there was 4 teams at this meet however, there was 30 8 year olds among the 4 teams. This meet...
This weekend I had my first competition of the season (level 4)
Going into the competition my main goals were:
- do good frontwalkover on beam
- don't fall off beam
- do straddle up on bars
- stick landing on bars and beam dismounts
- Try to stick vault
- stay tight all through floor routine
I...
OK, having a Sunday 8am session....just stinks! Thanks for everyone who suggested the hotel room though, I think it really helped! It was me & my daughter and her cousin & her mom. We arrived last night at the hotel and took a quick trip to the rec center. We did get lost though, LOL good thing...
Has anyone heard of or knows anything about a "special permission" granted to gymnast who do not meet the minimum age requirement. For instance, having a five year old compete as a L4??? Is it possible?
