My daughter is recovering from back issues. Her series was a BHS/BHS (which she did well) but switched to a Cartwheel/RO to heal. She is feeling better and would like to switch to a series that had ONE Back Handspring in it so her back doesn't flare up again. She feels like the CW/RO connection...
I've been trying out a bunch of beam series's lately, and I've noticed that almost all people do either back handspring back handspring or back walkover back handspring, and I was wondering if any particular series was judged differently or more harsh in level 8. Even if they don't judge...
DD had her first Level 8 meet of the season (she is a second year Level 8) this past weekend. She did a great job!!
She had put a ton of pressure on herself about qualifing to State at the first meet ugh!! She needed and AA 33.5. Well she did it she got a AA 34
Yippee and she got the bes...

I have my 3rd level 8 meet Sunday. It's 5 hours away so we're leaving tomorrow. My goals are to stay on beam and do everything else just like last week, but with higher casts on bars. Aiming for a 34 AA :).
Well overall not great!
Stated on bars- Train Wreck! She had been doing so well in practice. Tried her piourette 3 times. Went over on cast to handstand. But, she did not lose her cool. Kept smiling. (you don't want to know the score!!!)
Beam- only got a 9.5 start value. Connection too slow...
I had my 2nd level 8 meet earlier today and I'm really happy with how I did!
Scores:
Vt: 8.45 (3rd)
Ub: 8.55 (1st!)
Bb: 8.05 (4th)
Fx: 9.2! (1st)
AA: 34.25 (1st!)
2 points higher than last time! I only competed a fronthandspring vault (I've been jamming into the table on my tsuks...
Is there any other options to doing giants at level 8? I believe they need to handstands and two circling elements. I was just wondering what else would cover these requirements. My daughter is having trouble getting her giants. She has gotten them once in a while over the past year or so...
We survived our 1st level 8 meet yesterday. DD is a 1st year 11 year old level 8. It was an in-house practice meet, and the judges gave critiques to each girl after her routine. Very informative!
9.050 on floor. Was told to not hesitate so long before & after tumbling passes (?) and to point...
Well the meet went pretty well. Here are my scores:
Vt: 8.6 - Competed tsuks! Made the 1st one with 3 steps to the side and fell on the 2nd
Ub: 8.35 - basically a hit routine, my casts could have been higher and I only started out of a 9.5 without a pirouette
Bb: 7.85 - My coach just stood...
We have our intersquad tomorrow night. I was really nervous last week because I twisted my knee 3 weeks ago and couldn't practice for a while and then I had the flu for almost a week, but my last 2 practices have been really good so I'm a lot more confident! I've been injured off and on since...
Could someone please give me an example of level 8 floor passes in a routine? I am a 'new' level 8 mom and don't quite understand what my daughter is explaining :o. Level 7 seemed much less complicated.
I think she said 1) front handspring, front layout, front tuck(is the tuck optional?) 2)...
Is there some special requirment to have a free hip to 3/4 at level 8. The coach told my daughter if she did not do her free hip (which follows a piourette at handstand and I think a kip and a cast on the low bar) to at least 3/4 height, her routine would have a 9.5 start value. The JR. Op...
i was wondering what you guys do for your connection on beam. i want something unique. i was thinking of doing back walkover roundoff. have you guys seen anyone do that?
Bear with me I have a few questions....
*I had a very interesting conversation with another mom while watching part of our daughters' practice. I guess I'd rather get some reality based answers from other parents to help me identify if I do need to bring any of this up with her coaches or...
I'm going into level 8 this year and I'm struggling with bars a little. I was wondering if I don't get my pirouette by the beginning of the season and compete a level 7 bar routine with a clear hip a little above horizontal, a cast almost to vertical on the high bar and 2 giants what my start...
Hi All,
My DD is L7, and all but one girl in her group are training L8. Hence, during vault, she has not been doing many front hand springs, but the tsuks and the one where you do a RO first. (Is that a Yurchenko???)
Anyway, she started complaining of wrist pain on Thursday after workout...
i was just wondering if you can do C's in level 8..? i know you can do a full and a half on floor and i know that's a C but i also know there are ones you can't do..? i'm just confused..lol
Hi! My daughter is Level 8 trying to move up t0;) level 9 and will be a high school junior next semester. She wants to continue doing gymnastics through college. I understand Division I schools look for level 10 or elite gymnasts. What about division 2 or division 3 schools? What level do they...
