I know this sounds stupid, but where do you salute after vaulting? I'm still doing handstand fall flat, (I know, lame) so should I salute when I'm sitting on the mat or after I've got off?
P.S. Could somebody help me understand/get this forum?? I don't even know if I've even posted...
Just curious, how do you decide what vault setting to use for your girls doing handspring vaults? (Level 5-7) Is there an advantage to vaulting on a higher setting?
I have my second meet Sunday night and I'll be competing my tsuk for the first time. General good luck and some special vault fairies would be appreciated! I'm getting really excited. :D
The other Level 8 vault thread right now and my daughter's practice tonight got me thinking...
I know with many things in gymnastics its a numbers game - you simply have to put in the numbers before you can safely/successfully perform them. For example, my dd has been training a yurchenko for...
What is the standard setting for vault? Ours is at 7, and even for me at 4'10 (one of the tallest at gym) it feels like a pretty big drop. I can't even imagine how big the drop feels for the kids who are a whopping 4'0! The hardest vault being done is a front handspring full if that makes any...
The gym my daughter goes to now has requirements in order to compete on vault as a level 8. Front handsprings are not considered acceptable level 8 vault. Each gymnast is only working one vault and most be able to throw that vault in order to compete. Last meet the vault coach scratched the...
DD is getting ready to compete her tusk for the first time in competion and she wants to know what makes a good tusk? How does a good one stand out from a not so good one? She doesn't really have many examples to look at since all the girls at her gym do yurchnko vaults.
Hi everyone ~
My dd has been working on the beginning part of her Yerchenko vault for L8 for a long time, at least a year or so. She has just started to flip the tuck on the back a few weeks ago. I think what she has been doing up until a few weeks ago has been a “timer†or something like...
Finally after struggling with vault for 1.5 years my DD's vault looked good last night, and that was even vaulting over a mat. Hopefully she keeps it next week when her coach removes the mat. I think the majority of the problem was that she was hurdling to the spring board too late. Her coach...
I have a gymnast who is double popping on vault. She had a great HS flat back last year. We have a prota-vault that goes into our pit and she doesn't do it on there. Once she gets to the table it's like she double pops and she almost get stuck in her HS. Any tips or advice on this situation I've...
My daughter is a first year level 5 and has been struggling with vault. She started vaulting at 1 in practice and .05 in competition and had acheived as high as 8.375, then her coach decided to lower her to a 0 and she has been back in the high 7's last two meets. I think he was thinking...
My daughter (10 yrs.) will start the season next month at a L7. Her beam and floor are very strong. Bars are getting better quickly. It seems they don't practice vault as much at our gym and I've heard the start value is still 10.0 at L7 with a front handspring. If she moves to L8 (coach says...
Not that there is a need as it's already the most difficult vault being done, BUT with the height that Maroney gets on her vault, do any of you coaches/athletes/people who know more than me think she could eventually triple it? It just seems so easy for her and it would be infinitely cool to see...
So, I know this is one amongst a number of front layout threads but I still need help. I just did a bit of searching through the forum and came across a few interesting discussions but not sure they really cover my viewpoint.
So I'm a MAG coach here in NZ, and got two level 3 boys moving up to...

Thanks in advance
P.S sorry if i made another thread on this (I looked for it this morning and apparently i didn't so i...
I won't put anything in to skew this one just because I already have a particular point of view one it. Basically, Where do you like to have the gymnasts' arms when their feet make contact with the springboard when they vault. This is for normal entry vaults not round off entries.
I just started working on bars. for the first time EVER. I can't do a pike well AT ALL. so do you have any tips? i'm FAR from a kip but i go to competition in 1 and a half months. are there any tips for at home practice?
I'm scared to do a front handspring on the vault. While doing a handstand...
