I want to know if im the only one who thinks this way, but the new rules established by the USAG are just not good enough. I don't feel as if they grasp what the program is, and now i feel as if the new rules don't make it challenging enough for the students.
I am not a huge fan of the JO...
I have about 15 team girls who are competing Xcel this coming Spring. I just started coaching them and their last coach mostly had them as a rec group, so they are not very...polished, to say the least. I'm afraid of what their scores may be in the spring. I'm used to coaching JO, and I was...
I was bored so I decided to look through the code of points, and I saw a 'B' level skill. It's a full turn, but you don't put your foot down, and go to a scale. I want it in my floor routine, but I might not be allowed to..
Does anyone know? I'd appreciate it.

Hello, anyone know where I can find rules and regulations for xcel/prep-op?
I live in Kentucky, not sure what they have here.....
Also, where can I find the values of skills, such as which skills are 'A', 'B's etc...
Just curious!
Thanks in advance!!
I'm in Xcel Gold and I was looking at the requirements for our floor routines. Our coach told us that it would be fine to have our first tumbling pass as a robhs and the second a front hs. The requirement says "1. 1 acro connection min two flight elements." Wouldn't that mean robhsbhs or robhs...
I am so confused on Xcel. It all made sense to me until I started looking at the official rules for different regions. When will it all be the same? Fall 2013? My most dire question right now is about mobility. I have girls who have never competed USAG before and they are about Level 8. Are they...
I am having a really hard time picturing how Xcel meets are going to go. I have about 25 Xcel kids that were already placed on team when I became the new Head Coach. Several of them I would put at a Level 1, so they are doing Bronze. How in the world do you find music and choreograph routines...
I have a question.... Our gym is fairly new to the Xcel program (first competition year for our team) - there seems to be some confusion regarding qualifying for regional competition (Region 1) in April.
The team rep & coach are under the impression that the only qualifier to go to States...
Does anyone know much about the xcel program? My daughter is getting very frustrated with compulsories. My question is, can a gymnast go from xcel to optionals, or do they have to go through compulsories to get to optionals?
I was an ex-gymnast and my coach called me to be a prep-op coach?! I never was in pre-op I was coached privately can you tell me what the pre-op coach does? Thanks
I saw someone else posted how many hours do you train per week and what level are you but I didn't see any replies from people who are in the Xcel program. I am doing Xcel Silver and will be training only 4 hours per week. Is this enough? Can other people in Xcel please tell me how much you train?
So last year our whole Xcel team competed bronze (which is the new silver for region 5), and so now we would be moving to gold if we want to move up. I definitely do because I have had my kip for two years, have the handspring over the table vault, and have decent tumbling on floor, so I don't...
We are looking to grow our program by starting an Xcel program that will run alongside our JO program. The most sensitive issue is that we are trying to to present it as lightly as possible when moving kids in that direction and we already have some girls in mind who would clearly benefit from...
I read in another thread about a gymnast in excel plantinum competing a FHS vault. It got me wondering what the skills for this level are in your state because I do not see many advanced kids doing FHS, that would be more of an intermediate vault. We compete prep op novice, intermediate, and...
I was wondering how long gymnasts usually stay at a level of Excel?
I know it's not at all like the compulsaries, and that there's a range of levels in each level, but I was wondering how many years it makes sense to compete a level for? I was a bronze this year (L3-L5 skills) and I want to...
Are there any parents familar with the transition from Excel to Artistic?
This is my DD (9yrs old) 1st consistent year of gymnastics, she started in Sept 2011. She is training 12 hrs/wk at silver excel level, she has all the skills for level 4 except front hip circle and alot of the skills...
So, I might join the Xcel team at my gym. I know that at meets, the girls on the regular team have to wear their hair in a bun to meets. Do the Xcel girls have to do that too? Because if so, I don't know what I will do, since my mom is hopeless at doing hair, and I can't do a bun in my own hair...
Do your gyms travel out of state/country for Prep op or Xcel meets? Are there many meets that incorporate both tracks in the same meet? Do you need different judges for prep op/Xcel? The reason I am asking is that we have had a request by a foreign club to add novice optional to our meet next...
Does anyone know the difference between USAG L8 and superior prep-op/xcel? I realize rules are different but we are region 6 and apparently using Mass. rules. I have looked over rules and scoring and there doesn't seem to be much of a difference. My older DD is considering this for next year...
