Hi,
DD is in XCel Bronze. We had a great meet this past weekend. She'd finally gotten through her bars routine without falling. Although, I know she can do even better, but she got a solid score of 9.1 and 4th place. Her vault was also pretty good - 9.05 and 3rd place. She did her floor routine...
I was trying to watch people's series at a meet a few days ago and I wondered are the people that do a lame cartwheel roundoff scored the same as the people that do cool series like I saw a roundoff back handspring. At my gym you aren't allowed to do roundoff except for a dismount or series that...
Posting for a friend - what is the deduction on L6 beam if you basically do the L5 dismount (missing that extra turn) but then get back up and complete it correctly?
I have several gymnasts trying to score out of current Level 6 this weekend. One is struggling with some mental stuff on beam. Just to reassure everyone, I would NOT move this girl up to Optional without the appropriate skills on EVERY event, however, step one of having the opportunity to even...
Since the beginning of last summer i have been working BHS stepout on beam. I have made absolutely no progress since then. If a coach is spotting me, i get my hands on, my bhs is fine. If a coach isn't spotting me ( not even spotting me, literally just standing there for support with there...
Do the gymnasts kick up to handstand, then show split before stepping down? Or do they never bring their legs together and remain split throughout the skill?
I was browsing for some Leos online for dd and came across beam shoes/slippers. I know these were used many years ago but I haven't seen them used in recent years, at least not in the USA. Are there clubs that still use them? What benefit do they offer?
When I do a lot of backwalkovers on beam, like 20 minutes or so, my lower back starts to hurt. I've heard that I shouldn't be using my lower back to do the skill, so what can I focus on to avoid making it hurt? Could this actually be some sort of injury that I need to see a doctor for, or is it...
Hi! I have a question mainly for gymnasts and coaches, but I would be grateful for any advice. I am a 13 year old level 7/8 gymnast. Throughout all of the ears I have done gymnastics, I have always had issues with beam. It isn't only a fear issue, I think, it is more of a "misunderstanding"...
DD is working on up training several aerial skills on beam. Could someone give me quick value of these skills.
I know layout stepout is a C and so is a back tuck. What is a side somi, side aerial, front aerial, swing front, back pike, and front tuck worth.
So I found the 1 1/4 back spin (Li Li) in an old rule book. I was hoping someone on here has any suggestions on how to learn it and stuff like that. thank you
Okay so I have regionals coming up here soon and have a chance of making it to state if I hit my routines ( It's a reallllly tough tough regionals.) To make it better one of the top teams in the state is with my team in our rotation. To make it even better beam is our first event! Sectionals...
I really want to add something unique to my beam routine like I did last year. I was flipping through an old rule book at the gym when I came across the 1 1/4 back spin (Li Li). I know it is really hard, but I don't have a meet schedualed until december so I have time to try new skills. I was...
Ok so I'm not sure if it has been 5 years, I would have to watch old videos but I'd say at least three since she has not fallen off beam at all! She did lose some connections and had some wobbles but so excited she stayed on! So proud that she got over that hump, not that she'll stick it every...
Level 7. I know you need a 180* on a split jump for a B skill. But is there a range where it counts as a B skill, with deduction for not reaching exactly 180*? (like with the hs on bars, where up to 10* hs still counts) If so, what is the minimum degree?
Sent from my ADR6400L using ChalkBucket...
It seems like the optional girls from my old gym, from what I've seen, do a lot of extra acro on beam in level 7......for example, one girl in addition to her series and flight also did a front walkover, another girl did a cartwheel-roundoff which fulfills the series and flight but then also did...
If seen some nasty spills (including ones that require ambulances rides) on bars from some of the older girls but for some reason every time DD does something we on beam it worries me more than any other apparatus.
Watching her attempt a cartwheel on the low beam just reminded me how tense her...
So my daughter is doing her L5 cartwheel on beam and lands it about 50% of the time. What I mean by "lands it" is that she doesn't fall off. The problem is that I noticed that she is the only kid in all of the meets that we have been to so far that lands her first foot on the beam, but then...
Hi everyone!
I haven't been on in a while. I was kinda busy graduating from college. Anyways, I have a big girl job now, and I coach just for fun at my little Y gym on Mondays and Tuesdays. I have missed my girls, but man did they pick up some interesting fears and habits over the last 3.5...
