Hello,
Just wanted some thoughts on the advantages and disadvantages of a late split vs early split in a beam flic. My preferance is late and I think this generates more power, where as splitting off the beam is counterproductive. But I'd like to hear some other opinions.
So I have been having lots of trouble on my bwo connection. I can make the first one easily, but as soon as I try to go for the next one, I freeze! My coach says to just keep moving my hands back, but this doesn't seem to help. I can connect them perfectly on the floor. Any tips?
Hi there, thought you might enjoy this: YouTube - Waverley Gymnastics - Footy Show how funny is it to see big footy players doing the beam ect. haha :D
also thought i might mention this is the gym that our olympic gymnasts from AUS Shona morgan and Georgia Bonora go to :-)
Hi,
Could anyone please offer some tips on how to improve BHS layout stepouts on beam? I'm having trouble getting my chest up at the end. I think about setting first and bringing my arms up for the takeoff, but it seems like no matter how hard I throw it on the floor, my head is still low to...
Tonight at gymnastics on beam it was terrible, same with last week as well. I have had a back walkover inconsistently for about a year. I am able to do it on the high beam, but I usually make my hands on the beam not my feet. Anyway, tonight I was scared to go back at all. I didn't want to do it...
DD had a meet this weekend and had a good, clean beam routine. When she went to handstand to dismount, she didn't make it up all the way and came back down on the beam. She then re-did the handstand but into the turned position and dismounted. My question is, did she lose all points for that...
Hii! I live in the Minneapoils/Saint Paul metro are in Minnesota. I was wondering if anyone knew of some really good choreographers in the midwest, or just anywhere in the US I guess! Oh, and I was also wondering if using"The Posture Lady" for choreography down in Orlando, Florida would be...
During meets, I always shake really bad on beam. This makes it very difficult for me to keep moving throughout my routine without wobbling a lot. I didn't connect my series or my dance series at the last meet because I was so nervous. Does anyone have any special little tricks to help with this?
Hi all,
I am doing a coaching assignment at the moment and I need to describe the ideal model of a front sault dismount from beam. Since I am a terrible artist I am looking for a video of this skill so that I can take screen captures of each part to go along with my written description.
I did...
My daughter is recovering from back issues. Her series was a BHS/BHS (which she did well) but switched to a Cartwheel/RO to heal. She is feeling better and would like to switch to a series that had ONE Back Handspring in it so her back doesn't flare up again. She feels like the CW/RO connection...
I am a level 8 gymnast and my 1st meet is in 2 weeks i am super nervouse! I have not done my series on beam in 2 weeks! beam is a struggle for me and i have always have had problems. When i get up their i just freeze up i can do it perfectly on the floor but not the beam! when i dont throw it my...
I've been trying out a bunch of beam series's lately, and I've noticed that almost all people do either back handspring back handspring or back walkover back handspring, and I was wondering if any particular series was judged differently or more harsh in level 8. Even if they don't judge...
Ok so ive been thinking about this for awhile, im a level 7 gymnast and was wondering what does a judge look for in a floor and beam routine? Since these are two events where you actually have choreography and skills differ a lot, i waswondering what the judges like to see. I would really...
Question for anyone:
We're new to competitive gymnastics (Level 3 and 4). My L4 struggles with beam routine - she's always afraid she's going to fall and smack her head even though she's never done that. She's fallen - but becasue she's lost balance during split jumps. How can I help her...
I was looking over the optional requirements the other day and wondered, if a routine includes a 180° split jump is a leap still required? My question for the turn is, can a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 turn be used at level 7?
My level 4s seem to have trouble with nerves on beam and competitions. we have states this coming weekend and have tried to put the pressure on them by laying under the beam during their routines, and distracting them with music, talking, making the team watch routines one at a time, etc. I just...
Here is a video of Kyrie practicing her Level 7 beam routine, still needs some work but hopefully by January it will be great.

Just a little brag here. My older daughter (13 1/2) got her back tuck series on beam the other night, stuck. She was quite happy but also bummed that she can't do it at level 8.
