Hello all.
Our gym has been going through some odd times in recent months. At the end of the spring season, more then 2/3's of the upper level coaches quit. No reasons were provided as this is gym business, not parents. One thing IS clear however. Our L5, L6, and L7 teams did not perform as...
My child is going to be competing level 6 this fall and does not yet use grips. She tried them before level 5 but couldn't adjust. Then she tried them again after level 5 for about a month and struggled. We switched gyms and the new gym said no to grips that she's too small. She was perfectly...
Haven't posted in awhile, curious if you guys can help me out. My daughter wants a copy of what she calls "the book"....the book that all the coaches pull out and study to see if she is doing the routines exactly the way they should be done.
She also wanted me to find out if there is a series...
So DD is training for level 6. She is a solid gymnast who had a good level 5 season, scoring over 9s on beam and floor, high 8s on bars and vault. It was a tough season in that she grew over 4 inches and suffered with osgood schlatters most of the season - preventing her from doing much...
So had a comp yesterday and it went really well, loved the warm up because it was basically team warm up for 10 - 15 minutes and then compete which i really liked.
Started on beam, all went well, my split change wolf jump was pretty interesting because i landed my split change weird so had to...
I just started back up in gymnastics after quitting for 7 years. My gym instructors are trying to teach me the level 6 floor routine, but I am a slow learner with the dancy stuff. Does anyone know where I can find a video of somebody teaching it slowly? I am talking about this routine...
Hello
My granddaughter is competing level 5 another year this season when she moves to 6 next year can she skip the new 6 that will be 5 and move to the optional 6 level? Can you skip if she has a good aa score at state?
I am having a really hard time with my sole-circle on bars. I don't have the best grip strength and I feel like I'm going to peel off the bar when I do them (I only have once, but my heart leaps everytime I go for it). I'll do them but they scare me quite a bit. So they're really on and off...
Well, I've seen quite a few threads here about scoring out of level 6, which I'm about to do. (Yay!) So I was wondering who here has done it, how it worked out, and what was your experience. Also, coaches, do you do this often? If so, how, why and under what circumstances? I'm just...
Who else has heard the rumors about getting new routines/level 6 being optionals? Our coaches are in a tizzy because they believe these changes are happening this summer (to teach... and to compete for the 2012-2013 season). Is this coming season (starting fall/winter of 2012) considered 2013...
Wow. Long drive. Little sleep in hotel bed (luckily DD slept just fine). 6:10 wake-up call. 7:30 start time. Long drive home. Very tired, but hopped up on convenience store coffee. What we won't do for our kids!
Definitely less intense meet than the others we've been to this season (no lark...
At our meet last night I saw a couple things that were interesting! I thought everyone had to do the same thing, but there were a couple of girls that did back extension rolls to handstand on beam. Honestly it looked like it would hurt!
Also a girl on bars did her squat on and then lost her...
My dd is competing level 6 first time tomorrow with 3 weeks to learn routines :) she looks good excpet when she does her cast on the high bar she is piking a little (like bent at the booty) and she said her coach tells her to pike there but we've watched lots of videos and never see any pikes...
Here's hoping it goes well for my DD -- she's pretty anxious because she got sick right after break and feels like she's not where she wants to be. It's going to be big and competitive, so I'm encouraging her to set personal goals for herself rather than worrying about medals and scores. We had...
We are looking at doing 3.5 hours 3x/week for a new level 6 USAG program. Is this enough hours to do well? My DD did very well in level 5, won a few meets, but was going 4 days at 3.5 or 4 hours each day. Too much time, so we are scaling back. How many hours do some of the other level 6 kids...
My child is in not on artistic team, but this question relates to a dear friend's daughter. Her entire lvl 5 team (I'd guess about 9 kids) repeated lvl 5 this past season (although some were clearly ready for 6, maybe even 7). The coach and owner said they wanted to do this so they could test...
So I was supposed to compete yesterday at the Atlantis Crown Invitational but was kept out due to my knee. I went there to support my teamates and well...it was a disaster. Their usual coach was not present due to personal reasons and she will have siamese cows when she sees these scores.
SB-...
Great meet today. I am always greatful for well-organzied, on-time meets with good photographers (even if purchasing the pictures can put a major crimp in my bank account!). It was two weeks since Kathy's last meet and she was on vacation for 10 days of that, so I was just hoping for her not to...
