My DD is having a hard time getting her kip on the high bar. She swears it is different then the kip on the low bar. I have watched and watched all the other girls and I see no difference.
My thoughts are that from her squat on, she isn't jumping to the high bar, but leaning into it...
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to run a warm up for 2-3 year olds? The class is of about 8 children.
How would you then change the warm up for a 4-6 year olds rec group?
Thanks.
I was hoping to get some opinions from judges (and coaches too) who are familiar with the requirements for USAIGC Silver level floor routines.
Recently, my daughter was given a new Silver floor routine. She’s very happy with the music and the choreography. However, I do have a question. Of...
Pea came home dancing last night, she finally started learning her floor routine! I had to tie her into bed since she wouldn't stop practicing! The only bad thing so far? It's raining today, so she can't practice at recess  Love the excitement!
I am trying to move up from Xcel platinum (kind of like level 5-7) to Xcel diamond (level 7 -9). I'm concerned because my routines right now have all the requirements, but don't necessarily have any big flashy skills.
Is this a bad thing? Will judges score lower?
In a thread in the parent forum about videotaping meets, someone mentioned that they videotape the whole team in case the judge misses something in their routine. Will judges actually watch a video of a routine if the judge says the gymnast didn't do xyz and the coach says they did?
I'm...
Why so people Charge $350 and up for floor routines and the routines are all the same accept for a few dance moves here and there or maybe a different beginning and a different ending. Other than that they all look the same. Example you have someone doing floor ones for approximately 8 level...
My dd has only been on team (level 2) for a couple of months and I'm still figuring things out. Her gym competes early Sept-Dec and they have a judges training/mock meet in mid August (6 weeks away). As far as I can tell, they haven't started learning their routines yet. I was just wondering in...
I was looking at drills and skills and other websites but nowhere found really good sources of bar skills with their difficulties.
I would say I have all L6 bar skills.
Now I want to do some more skills and I was thinking about what would be the best (not too hard and suitable for a 5'3''...
The Race. Similar to Jaycie Phelps in 1996.
Sweet Georgia Brown
How to Train your Dragon
Sharifs Zarifa (it's a bellydance song)
Is there a way I can search for these? I'm not good at searching but mine turn up nothing.
I am not a choreographer, but will be doing some of the routines for our new level 6s. Is it ok to look at routines with the same music to get ideas or is that against the rules? Specifically looking for Sweet Georgia Brown.
I know it's only level 3, and it doesn't matter in the long run, but I'm just curious.
A week ago DD had a meet and scored 9.5 on this floor routine:
Then this weekend she had States, and got 8.6:
I know she was nervous, because it's States. And she was upset, because they started on beam...
i was wondering if anyone could help me here i will write down one of my gymnasts routines, we think she is level 9 so would you please be able to read through them and tell me if they are correct and what needs to be changed for her start value to be marked out 10 or if she doesn't need stuff...
DD selected floor music from a list her coaches recommended. So excited for her as we are starting her choreography over spring break, which gives her about 9 months to perfect it before she competes it! My question is do you share selections with friends from other gyms that are usually in...
In the USAG level 5 beam routine, the gymnast must hit a handstand and immediately take two releve' steps backwards in order to complete the skill, right? Is there an alternative to this? If so, what? If not, what, if any, would be the deduction for failing to take these two steps?
What is the deduction for being ahead of music? My daughter had to pause for a bit for music to catch up because she went to quickly. She still did great after performing her first floor routine after getting off her back brace for stress fracture. She did not even know she was competing floor.
