As my daughter was doing her level 4 beam practice the other day, she went over time and I overheard her Coach say that to her that she would not only receive an overtime deduction but would also lose credit for her dismount since it occured during the overtime period. Is this accurate? Or...
By the way, twisting is not generally my thing... I did round off half dismount fine but just can't seem to get it around to do a full, let alone 1 1/2...
Also front dismounts weren't really my thing either.
Any ideas?
*My excuse is that I LOVE beam so much that I just do NOT want to get off...
My daughter told me tonight that her Ds on beam are now .2 not .3 like they were last year
Does anyone know if that is true?
I just had my review with the head coach and I don't want to meet with her again. So I thought I would ask here
Thanks
Is it generally considered preferable for a gymnast to focus on backwards tumbling on beam rather than doing front tumbling skills, even if they are more advanced? For example, if a Level 6 gymnast has a great FWO but struggles with their BHS. Or if a gymnast has a forward tumbling series but...
My 5 year old DD came home from Level 2 practice last night crying that another girl pushed her off of the beam and took her spot. She said one of the coaches made the girl apologize.
Shouldn't the coach have informed me of this?
Ok so I don't know much about coaching but I've recently come across another parent who informed their daughters hands were tied together while on beam(i don't know what skill she was being taught or anything) but I was wondering how common this is, if at all? Personally it seems so dangerous...
What is a double back anything dismount off beam worth or what level is it? Does it matter if it is a tuck, pike, et cetera. I know there are A, B, C, et cetera skills, but I don't have a list.
I don't know how it is called... Cross step? The steps that a gymnast takes after split jump/straight jump. I watched some youtube videos and noticed that 'righty' girls take the first step with their right leg, then cross behind with their left leg. However our L4 girls were taught just the...
Question time again! Sorry!
As DD is working on her straddle press, some thoughts came to my mind.
So she has a standing straddle press and almost got it from sitting.
Once she can comfortably do it from sitting up and back down again...what about the press handstands done on beam? Will she...

I understand that there aren't points added or taken away for difficulty; but what is the skill level difference in beam dismounts? For that matter, what are the options? Front tuck, cartwheel/back tuck and backwalkover/back tuck? Which is considered the most difficult/advanced? Just looking for...
An online search did not lead me to this answer. DD is inconsisent with her BWO on beam -- sometimes gets it, but more recently she is either landing one foot and falling off, or missing it completely. When she misses it completely, she tries again and always falls and then the rest of her...
I'm going into level 6 and I can't figure out a b skill to do on beam. I can't do a RO or BHS yet. I'm thinking about a Valdez, but I would love to hear more suggestions. Thank you very much! :)
I was thinking "what if?" about this earlier and I wanted to get some community advice to satisfy my curiosity. The idea is performing a standing double backward tucked somersault off the end of the beam as a dismount. Perhaps some of the knowledgeable people on here can enlighten me. My...
