So I am in unchartered waters, and have no clue what DD needs for L6 or 7 on beam. I think this will be the hardest one for DD because of fear.
Can she do a BWO- BT dismount? I see most people doing CW-BT... Are there any unusual things that are allowed? What does she need? Where can I find...
And I'm just too lazy to ask the hc, lol. My dd can do flick lay and flick bt, is there a difference in value? Hc really wants the flick lay, but dd says flick bt is easier and less scary. This would be l9. Any preferences to what would be better...score better...advance better?
I think my least favorite skill ever is a cartwheel on beam. I had it very consistent and good throughout the summer, but since I have taken 2 falls that required time out/doc visit and seen 1 fall. I split the beam and somehow landed on my head, had a concussion was out for 3 weeks. Then at...
Okay so I've been working on back handsprings on beam for over a year now. They haven't gotten any better. I'm still on low beam with mats. I have done it on the medium beam with a spot. I've been told so many things about my handspring are wrong. Like, I keep my head in and end up not seeing...
Last meet before states. Sophia continues to improve but hasn't yet put it all together! Bars is a challenge but her BEAM was beautiful and she qualified to and won event finals. States this weekend. Fingers crossed!
Proud MOM
My daughter has been working on bhs on the beam for a few months now and can usually do it quite nicely. She has unfortunately fractured fingers twice in the last 3 months doing this skill. (First time in early December was a fracture of her index finger and the second time happened a couple...
I am a Level 7. I am solid with all skills, but beam is my best event, because I am very powerful in all "standing" things, but not so good in tumbling passes, or at least I do not like it that much.
However, so far I can do BH BH on beam, I can also do a back tuck on high beam already and I do...
Hello coaches.
We just reupholstered a beam. With suede material. 2 weeks later, there is a 3/4" cut/ rip on the side, just below the top. How should we fix it so it doesn't keep ripping? Should we use ductape or cut a patch of suede and glue it on? Or just spray with some glue?
Thanks coaches!
Say CW/BT or FT. Is there much of a difference difficulty-wise between them? Does one lead to higher skills more than another? What is most commonly seen at 6/7? What do 8's usually do?
So DD's former L3 group is uptraining and learning both L4 routines and trying out L5 skills (our compulsory season is in the fall). It's been a frustrating endeavor watching her, because she's up until now been the top of her group and one of the quickest to get new skills. Her kip is coming...
My daughter has a horrible time controlling nerves on beam and said she has shaky jello legs at meets. Any tips on how to help her deal with this in the moment? She does fine on beam at practice but had her first meet last weekend and it was fall city. I could actually SEE her legs shaking...
We saw a L5 gymmie over the weekend who hesitated VERY long, then totally skipped her BWO. She ended up with a 6.8.
Another mom and I were just wondering what the point deduction was for just that part. Does anyone know?
My daughter is struggling with her beam series at competitions. She does well in practice and then falls on her series at the meets. She is getting so frustrated because she knows she can do her series and do it well. At the last meet she complained for two days about how she messed up. I...
For 3 years I have been doing/learning round off back tuck, layout and twisting as my dismount on beam and then my coach since I have had since level 3 (I am now level 8) has left to go coach at a different gym. So we got a new coach and he started teaching me front tuck full dismount off beam...
I need a dismount on beam for some of my girls who will soon be L7s.
Most do the regular CW BT. Round-Offs not quiet there yet.
I have two girls who just don't get it, they always fall on their cartwheel.
We thought about maybe aerial of FH at the end of the beam.
But there is one thing I...
I've been doing bhs on beam for around a year now, and though I can stick them most of the time in routines, I feel like they are still an "iffy" skill. This may sound like a silly question, but how do you get consistency with these things. I know just doing it over and over will achieve that...
My DD had her first level 6 meet this weekend, my husband and I both thought she fell coming out of her side leap (after her first tumbling pass). When I asked her she said she's supposed to roll on the floor like that, but am I wrong in thinking she got deducted for a fall there?? She scored a...
