In my efforts to become a more educated observer of the sport, I have come across a term describing the hand position in the back extension roll as being "staged". I have NOT been able to figure this one out, and I don't really want to bug my daughter's coach. It's also a 0.10 deduction on...
I was browsing on Gymnastike and spotted these and thought the coaches might be interested. It talks about the details of the routine and where judges take deductions and what they expect to see.
Part 1 -...
Hi!
I have a couple of girls who have competed in level B for 1-2 years and they have already scored 32.0 AA which is a required score to move up a level. They have also done a couple of meets last year after getting that score and did very well...
Well, the first competition is coming on...
Ok this is a question for judges.. the other night while at gym my coach was choreographing a beam routine. She had my teammate do this one poise and she said that she felt like a bird. she then proceeded to make bird noises and flapped her arms :D it has become an inside joke when someone gets...
Board mount to kip cast horizontal shoot over, kip squat on jump to high bar, kip cast 1/2 turn, kip cast bounce back layout dismount.
Would this meet all requirements for a level 9 gymnast? Would it start from a 9.7?
i used to take gymnastics but was taken out when i was young, i then taught gymnastics for 3 years, but it was mostly little kids and most of their parents only wanted tumbling instructions. long story short i want to get back to it. maybe not competitions but i want to be good enough to...
Hey Chalkbucket!
I'm competing level 8 for the second time this season, and so far everything is going well... except my bar routine... Despite my extra year of practice, my bar routine has gotten only slightly better. But one thing that is still a problem for me is my clear hip to handstand...
what is the start value of the level 8 floor routine if they do a layout instead of a full? Also are there any more deductions other then start value if this skill is missing?
AHHHH! My dd has so many bad habits it's hard to keep up with them all. Several of them are most likely due to her anxiety. Recently I've noticed her sticking her tongue out during her routines when she is really concentrating. She lost 4 teeth in the last month or so and now has a nice gap...
Way to go Jordyn and Ali for 1st and 4th.
Way to go to the whole team.
And way to go to all the girls (women) there. They were all amazing.

So i've decided what song i wanted to use as my floor routine music but have not been able to find it to order anywhere. I was wondering if someone would be able to edit it for me. I want the Social Network theme and can provide the entire sountrack if someone is willing to help me. Thanks.
My DD has just picked out her music and will be getting a floor routine for the first time.
The coach said she will have someone choreograph her routine, but I know we do not have choreographers per se in the gym.
My DD does take dance classes on Saturdays not through the gym and does have the...
DD is competing L6 this season. She's rocking her core skills, but she's always been a little lacking in presentation and poise (in particular her arm positions). She has it in her head that she wants to do a "muscle pose" with her arms at the end of the routine. The coaches have said they...
Hi guys!
I love to watch gymnastics videos from Youtube. One day I found a floor routine video that was posted a couple of years ago. The British gymnast on video was just 9 year-old when doing this routine. I absolutely love the way she works with the music. I also think that the music choice...
Does anyone have any idea how long it takes to get your first level 7 floor routine down? My dd's going to have a little over a month from the time she gets her music/choregraphy to her first meet this season.
There seems to be a lot of "favorites" being played because so many of the moms work...
Alex got her floor routine choreographed on Monday. It is still in the rough stages but you get an idea of what it will look like. She did not do any of the tumbling or leap passes in the runthrough. Best of all Alex LOVES it!!:cloud9:

Ok DD got her new floor routine today. I think it will be a good fit for her.
Its very rough right now and the Leaps and tumbling passes weren't performed but here is a link to see what she has so far

Remember she was only about 1 1/2 - 2 hours...
When my dd does her front handspring she takes like an extra step instead of just sticking it. She says she just has too much power. Her coach hasn't really said anything on how she should fix this, any ideas?
DD is scheduled to compete next month. It'll be her first competition this year and she's really looking forward to it.
I on the other hand am chewing my nails because she hasn't actually started learning her routines yet. This is kind of standard practise at her gym. They focus more on...
Gymnast gets her Kip (straight arm) and gets the chance at 5P. With the 2011 compulsory season right around the corner we only hope she will impress the judges during the Uneven Bars event. Who knows... this may be a worst case scenario:
