If a gymnast falls on beam, and falls again while remounting (Both hands and 1-2 feet touch the beam in a squat, then gymnast comes right back off), does that count as two falls, or one?
Hey, for anyone who has any experience:
Diamond beam requirements say
One Acro Skill with flight
(isolated or in a series)
AND an Acro Series
– with or without flight
Does that mean you can do, say a BWO to BHS and be all set? Or would you have to do, say BWO BWO and BHS separately...
Hi this is my first post so bear with me. My dd is 5 years old and on a pre development team. She has beautiful lines, good form and good strength and flexibility. She has always been a very determined little girl but is quite shy around others. However, she can be quite fearful especially on...
My coach decided we should all try to find a 'cool' skill to do on beam to distinguish us from the other competition. I was thinking I could do things like pommel scissors etc. because I was okay at them. Do you think they look okay?
And don't say 'ask my coach,' I want YOUR opinion :D From...
I've been watching a few youtube videos to see the national grade 3 beam requirements. I notice that some sit on the beam before the russian lever, and some go straight into it. But my googling also turned this up, but I don't quite understand the way it is written.

Does that...
In the level 3 beam routine, what is the deduction for not getting your handstand vertical? What about not kicking to horizontal? There are probably more technical terms for this. Sorry :)
Im starting to worry that the new 'up to level' is going to be harder for level 7 than the requirements.....
Level 7 series can be BWO BWO etc......im seeing A LOT of girls do a BWO-BHS, or BHS- BHS etc....
with a clean basic requirement L7 routine, with a stand alone BHS, will this work...
Alex playing around with a new beam skill... Alex thought BHS BLO BLO was intense when she learned and competed it... this has definitely moved it up on the scale of YIKES........but I have to say if she got this skill it would be pretty darn impressive....stay tuned ;)
Hope everyone is...
Hi All,
A couple of our low beams have been in terrible condition for years, and we finally have the funds and permission to buy recovery kits so that there will actually be some cushion between the leather and wood! Huzzah!
Does anyone have experience with any particular kit from a...
So one of my requirements this year is a flight skill for beam. My round-offs are okay, but since I can't use it as part of my dismount, I tend to fall backward slightly. And for back handsprings, I would prefer not to do them. I can technically do them, but they are scary and so I've been...
Short Stack had a meet on Saturday. She tied for first on beam with a 9.075. Due to her all-around score (she placed 12th or 13th on all other events. Beam is consistently her strongest event) she placed second. She came to me and said, "OH! if I got my handstand on the end of the beam all the...
Hi! My name is Leia, I am a level 9 gymnast and I have been having trouble on my beam series and I don't know what to do? I feel like I start over everyday when I get to beam and I don't feel confident... I competed a back handspring back handspring last year and my series is new this year (bhs...
What is a kip handstand? Not a kip cast I heard of that one, but a kip handstand? Is there a difference?
On beam, is a tick tock more difficult than a BWO? Or less?
Thanks
I am a little confused about all the requirements and judge preferences for level 9 beam. Is there a single acro requirement? If so, what skills qualify for that? Is that a compositional requirement or just preferred by the judges?
Quick question to you all awesome people out there :)
My dd does hurdle cartwheel back tuck. With no pause. I see some that does step, step, cartwheel back tuck. Any difference on scoring?
My DD plans to compete a BHS BHS as her beam series. Currently, she pauses before doing the second BHS. I am curious what the deduction is for not connecting the two. Hopefully, she will have the connection as the season continues, but it may not be there for the first few meets. Just...
Can someone explain to me the deduction range for falling on a level 4 beam handstand? What determines whether they get credit for the skill or not, or if they are deducted for both the fall, and a missing element? In this case, the gymnast kicked up to handstand too hard, had both feet...
