My DD is doing Platinum this year after being in JO. We have a large xcel team but this is the first year offering platinum as we tend to focus on JO for skills aligned with level 6 and up. So, I am not sure if there is some missing info, but I am trying to understand if my DD is missing a B...
Dear Mr. Beam,
I realize that our relationship has been wobbly in the past, however, until recently, we were so stable together. Whatever happened to those days when I knew I could count on you to be there when I blindly reached for you? You have been letting me down a lot recently, and it's...
I've been having a real hard time getting my L3's to execute the mount like how it's written in the book. My 4s and 5s do it well, but for some reason the 3s are having trouble doing the "whip" motion and passing through the push-up position before putting their knee on the beam. A few of them...
So...4 weeks after a fracture she did bars and beam. First Level 10 Meet without a fall!!!!! First level 10 meet with all 9's LOL only two events but we will take it!!!
My dd is a 5 and a level 2 gymnast. She's right handed but she's a lefty gymnast. At her last competition she mounted with her right leg but did all of her other skills on her left leg. Does anyone know the deduction for this?
Does a gymnast just lose points for a fall off the beam after a BWO-BHS series if one foot lands on the beam? or do they lose the points for a missing skill too?
Looking for a definite answer from someone who knows for sure:
Can a gymmie compete L7 beam without a BHS?
I have a L6 with a paralyzing BWO fear. She just got 2nd place on beam without it (yay DD!). I think by next year she could manage the rest of the skills for L7, but I'm wondering if...
My DD does a roundoff on beam for l7 she was telling me her HC says it's too short. She said she tries to fix it but doesn't know how. Any suggestions I can give her. Or should it lengthen as she gains more confidence. Will she receive an amplitude deduction?
My L8 dd is working herself back from an injury (broken fingers). For her last meet, she was only able to compete floor and she did a modified routine to remove all work with her hands.
She is now able to use her hands and has been working to get her beam routine back. However, she is not yet...
Why is the rotation of the legs (5th position in ballet) so important on beam? Or is it? Maybe it is more dominantly used as a turning or landing technique? I would expect that when tumbling on beam the feet would be in line with the beam rather than the feet and legs turned out. I'd like hear...
Ok so I have been having lots of issues getting myself to go for my back handspring on high beam. I was out for three months because I had a major surgery (due to medical issues not gymnastics) to have a tumor in my pancreas removed. I competed a Tick tock back handspring for a whole season, but...
My dd is working on her level 7 beam and it clocks in around 40 seconds. She hits all her needed skills (I think), starts down on the beam, does full turn, bwo-bhs, split jump/beat jump combo then cw-bt. I know there are over time deductions but not sure about under time ones! Thanks!
For anyone who knows:
My DD has a habit of taking a moment to set her feet before doing her cartwheel. the setup doesn't always look so fluid, but when she does this, she stays on the beam.
I can only see so much at meets from where I sit (mandated to the opposite side of the gym, per her...
Hi! My daughter is really struggling to keep her legs straight on her Level 2 beam mount (while they are swinging to the push-up position). She is getting frustrated and is looking for tips. She says she is squeezing them as hard as she can but they still bend just a little. In general, she...
Does there have to be a connected skill or dismount? DD is doing a bwo bt dismount but is having trouble connecting them. Wondering if it's necessary and if so what the deduction will be
